Hey all right now i got my box tuned @ 35hz for daily and i'm doing a 145.3@39hz...i was maybe going to build a new box tuned some where around 55hz, does any of you think i may gain a little by doing this?? maybe a rough estimate?? i will only be running this setup for a few more shows, and this will just be a competition box, i just don't know if it will be worth it to build one..any thoughts??

you will gain db's. not sure how many exactly, but my guess would be 3 to 4 maybe.

Making a fartbox will gain db's yes.
As pat said theres no way to tell how many.
It's all in the build.
Make sure theres no 90 degree's in the box and round off ur port

blah blah blah, ya what they said

55hz seems alot louder than a low(er) tone
thats weird....why wouldnt it be loudest at peak excursion? more air moved = louder, right? well at least thats what i understood, untill hillbilly or Jon tells me the truth

Technically yes.
But if your box doesnt have the right tuning (higher) The air pressure wont get out as we could say fast?
With a highly tuned box the port is bigger which in turn will push more air out of the box pressurizing the air more

I can get the MECP book and type that shiz out for a more technical explination. but thats like the dumbed down version so like everyone can understand it

majic smoke.......we're probably thinking or different things, lol
ya, I dont have any kind of power tools...pretty sad, yes.......I thought home depot will cut the wood to the sizes you need? I have a hand saw lol and a hack saw....
Also I DO have an abudance of free time on my hands......If I'm going to be feeding the R's 500 watts+ should I keep them sealed? since ported makes the subs more efficient, and the power handling is 300rms. I've already had these subs running for 2 1/2 years in the same box on the same amp, and I'd like to keep them as long as possible......They pound good in a sealed box on 550watts total, I dont know what to expect on 1100 ported.

you'll be very disappointed with a sealed box on R's. they shine in a box ported box.
i wouldnt recommend it at all bro
And yea. did ya guys know strapping 2500d's makes the magic smoke come out?

I think i'm going to build a new box tuned around 55hz, and build a removable port plug tuned at around 35hz. has anyone seen this done??
Yes. Home depot will make the cuts for you. Going ported will increase the output tons! trust me, when i got my cvr's i had them in a prefab sealed box, and they sounded alright. then i switched to a ported box and the difference in output was unbelievable

thats cool, I've never had a ported box, im a little giddy about the whole thing....
plan is to have the subs firing up, slot port to the back, I have no space issues, so the bigger the better......an amp rack would be nice too, but seems a little difficult when the box takes up most of the space....oh ya, im thinking of around 32-38hz anyone know what I should tune it too for maybe a 60/40 spl/sq.......

Tune around 34hz. thats where i am and it slams the low notes and gets very loud. thats a great daily bump tuning

sounds good, is your port at the bottom of the box? can't see it in the pic.....
