OK i was driving around town today and I stumbled on a 87 blazer k5 for sale. The body looks stable, and its is fuel injected, does anyone kno the MPG? It also has 135,000 miles (Is that good for a 87?),, also its a 4 speed and 4x4 of course

, now the price is 800 OBO, do you think this would be a good first truck? I need something for the winter and plus i like going muddin occasionaly so I am curious if you guys think this is a good by or not??

Anything with 135,000 miles on it is bound to have problems, no question. the thing is 19 years old, so again, there's bound to be issues. If you have a good feeling on it, i would go for it. i wouldn't pay 800 if it says obo though. Sounds like they're just trying to get rid of it, i would haggle as much as possible.

well to put the mileage into perspective...my truck it a 2000 and it has 121,000 miles...so actually the miles aren't that bad

well I talked to the guy today, and he said the only issue is a lose lifter..is this real bad?? Im guesing I could just pop off the valve covers and tighten it up, is there any more to it?? but besides that he told me it stars right up and rives perfect..I am going to see it tomorrow and take it for a test drive.

yeah let me just say that i have 1995 blazer with 126,000 miles and im dumping alot of money into it. Nothing huge but little things add up, like my ingnition, waterpump, tie rods...and the list goes on. If it is just a loose lifter and its an easy fix, then why doesnt the dude do it and sell it for more? I deal around alot with cars and if people say its an "easy fix" then great! why havent they fixed it and trying to sell a perfect running car and get more money for it? I would be a little paranoid right away, but thats just from what i have learned.

i would always be willing to try lower. but have a price you are willing to spend. BUt go low and you can go to the highest price you want to pay.

Try for 500, and try to work that. He will probably try to get more out of you though. I was going to buy a blazer that was selling for 3500 and I talked him down to 2500, but never went with the blazer due to all the issues.

Just so you know, if you drive around with a loose lifter, it can drop a valve, and it would be all chewed up and scattered through the hole engine scorching it all up. Check the oil, see if its good. Thats what matters to me is maintenance, not mileage. I had an 87 K1500 GMC, (basically the samething, auto 4spd, 4wd) and it was a EXCELLENT truck.

Good choice man, for 700 you can beat that if it runs. I paid 2000 for my 1998 atv, I just dont get how I pay 2000 for an atv and you can get a truck cheaper.
