A buddy at work let me drive his 2002 Z06 home for the weekend, so I thought I'd share some pics. I've worked on it a couple of times and driven it several times, but never took it home before. I have never driven anything that was as fun to drive as a Z06, especially the new ones, speaking of which he just ordered a new 2008 yellow Z06 yesterday, and it is going to be built in October. Anyway enough babbling, here are the pics.

Not a fan of yellow on any car but I do like the ZO6s. Hopefully in the next year or two Ill have a late C5 in my driveway.

Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about the yellow, but I know he buys them in yellow because it is the only color that is an extra cost option. He says "It's not a fully-optioned car unless it's yellow". He's a complete fanatic, the new one he just ordered will be his 17th brand new corvette, he bought his first new one when he was 18 and he's just getting ready to turn 50 years old.

Wow, I really want a newer corvette of some sort, whether it be a c5 or a z06. Just about anything with the hidden lights, maybe an even newer one but it'll take a bit to get used to exposed headlights. Awesome car there though. I like yellow on the corvette's but would probably get black or blue first then maybe red then yellow. The black or blue is less cop noticable (not by much though when you are speeding

)

The worst thing about driving your buddies Vette is having to return it!

I want a brand spankitty new Z06...
And a CERV III (My favorite flavour of Corvette, even if it was an automatic... It was still all wheel drive with 600HP!)
I also wouldn't mind an LS7 in my Blazer, but...

<<<<<< EXTREMELY jealous!!!
I'm glad GM bounced back from the 80's and early 90's 'Vettes. And the design of the C6 is so crisp and sharp...makes me proud to be an American I tell ya! About the exposed headlights...that's why '62 is my favorite year, last year (until recently) for them, and a lot of other things as well.
Glad you got to 'play' with this toy, you must be an incredible mechanic and very trustworthy person for him to leave it with you!
Below is my favorite year, the original inspiration for my screen name here, and a video of a SICK cammed 'Vette (hopefully it will play).
CAREFUL, I get goosebumps EVERY SINGLE TIME I watch this video... Thumbnail Image

According to Chevy's website's "Build a car" Artic White is the only color that costs extra. Im acctually surprised, I thought mettalic colors were more, not a "boring" color like white. Although white is getting really popular on sports cars right now. If I was buying a vette it would be in Orange mettalic or Lemans Blue Mettalic. I love mettalic colors.

I happen to think yellow is a great color on a sporty car. Something about it just makes the car POP. Where do you live, I'll be right over. Have it gassed and ready to go

Even though I'm now hooked on Blazers, I still miss my old '65.

If that's true, and I'm not disputing it, It WASN'T true when he had this one built in 2002. It was an extra cost option for yellow due to it's special 4-stage paint process. And the Arctic white is probably an extra cost option just because ALL first generation corvettes were white with red guts, and that's the only way alot of historians and fanatics will have one. I myself really like the quazar blue, but I'd have a tough time ordering anything but a white one.
