EuroGoldLS -> 5 Star Shine (10/22/2007 1:24:55 PM)

I've heard on some other forums that there is a new wax out there that is gaining popularity. Its called 5 star shine and uses PTFE molecule to repel dirt and water from the paint surface.  Anyone else heard of it? Or know where to get it?

From technology proven in the aerospace industry comes a paint protection system guaranteed to protect your car's finish for 5 years and keep it incredibly clean. 5 Star Shine's patented two step PPS technology took over a decade to develop and patent (patent # 5,081,171). In fact, 5 Star Shine's PPS technology is the only paint protection system ever awarded a patent by the U.S. Government and used by the US Navy.

^^^^  they are talking about their experiences with it

You can order on ebay for 50+s&h.  The caddy forum didn't positively feed on the product, but I may think about ordering some to do mine and dads truck with. Because both have pristine paint, and we don't want to have to repaint anytime soon.

either do that or you can try ice thats what i use when i detail mine up works well at repeling all sorts of road grime and dirt

EuroGoldLS -> RE: 5 Star Shine (10/23/2007 4:34:35 AM)

I've had Ice. This 5 star shine is nothing like Ice.  Ice is just a polish that provide maximun shine for about a week.

agent305 -> RE: 5 Star Shine (10/23/2007 5:36:09 AM)

i use the maguires wax that comes in the weird green bottle. it was like 15 bucks or somethin.
also their showcar glaze.
i always get compliments on my paint. so many people think its aftermarket paint. but its factory.
70 dollar wax????
wow, i sure would like to try that!!!!

EuroGoldLS -> RE: 5 Star Shine (10/23/2007 5:50:10 AM)

If you watch the video on the page Hoooo linked to, you'll see that its not a wax, its a molecular compuond that forms a covalent bond with the paint surface and neutrally charges the finish, thus not letting the negatively charged dirt particles magnetically attach themselves to the paint. Its better than anything else out there according to all the consumer ratings and to be issued a patent... well, its definately unique. Id just apply it, an then wax it as needed for additional protection.

swartlkk -> RE: 5 Star Shine (10/23/2007 6:18:17 AM)

I'm skeptical at best...

agent305 -> RE: 5 Star Shine (10/23/2007 11:11:02 AM)

yea i dont know.....after hangin around their site for a few, it sounds fishy.
the one thing i didnt like was the "never wax your car again" where is the fun in that? i love waxin my truck. and the "remove immediately" part. i wonder what happens if you dont.
i think im gonna get it tho, lol
but im testin it on a different car b4 i attempt it on mine

EuroGoldLS -> RE: 5 Star Shine (10/23/2007 1:23:43 PM)

I just don't want to have to wax the Envoy again.

I'm skeptical about it too. The US navy truly does endorse it though...

otnietdehoooo -> RE: 5 Star Shine (10/23/2007 1:37:56 PM)

well I saw a commercial the other day that said, ''official bread of the dallas cowboys'' but that doesn't mean that its good bread... I may be comparing apples and oranges but, endorsements seem to get a little out of hand sometimes.

I don't think I would pay that much for wax

igot10pinitis -> RE: 5 Star Shine (10/23/2007 3:39:48 PM)

lol, for 70 bucks i better DAMN well get something besides a bottle of wax.  Don't waste your money man.

EuroGoldLS -> RE: 5 Star Shine (10/23/2007 3:56:55 PM)

I don't think I'll be buying it.  Its not a wax. Its more like a "semi-permanent paint coating".

Zed -> RE: 5 Star Shine (10/24/2007 7:14:47 AM)

Sounds like Perma Shine to me , remember when ( and if  ) you bought your truck new they always ask if you want it 'Perma Shined' , I dunno , been waxing & buffing cars for along time and seen allot of 'snake oils' out there and if you want a good shine it's going to take a little of Mr Armstrong and a quality wax like Meguiars Gold IMO ...

blznlowxtreme -> RE: 5 Star Shine (10/24/2007 5:36:16 PM)

for $70 it should come with a auto buffer and a lepercon to put it on and take it off for you. i would like to try a free sample

sdm1234 -> RE: 5 Star Shine (1/1/2008 8:20:03 PM)

does it actually neutralize the paint surface, clearcoat surface, or the surface on which the paint will be applied? i'm asking because neither clearcoat nor paint is molecularly charged... i can see naval military boats using the stuff because of the metals, but it sounds like a marketing spoof to me.

Rp9110 -> RE: 5 Star Shine (2/26/2008 6:57:18 AM)

Whats the best for a white vehicle if there really is a differernce? Using some black magic wax my brother bought it works. But since my blazer is white I see so much dirt within a week of washing it, i'm guessing its just something I have to deal with for having a white vehicle.
