where to start, where to start...first off i need to get my tranny diagnosed because im not sure what is wrong with it. it kicks HARD from first to second, and doesnt usually shift until ive redlined it and then it kicks into second...secondly it doesnt always shift from drive to reverse. its only done that twice and i was wondering what it was and how to fix that. and lastly i wanted to know the best route to fixing this. should i take it to a tranny shop and have them rebuild it/ replace it? or should i have it flushed? i have zero transmission experience and to be 100% honest, i dont even want to think about touching it.

If your transmission fluid level is full, then check the condition of the fluid. Is it dark and smell burnt? If it needs changing, change the fluid. Your shifting problems could possibly be caused by dirt or filings in the valve body bores that may clear out with a fluid and filter change. This condition could also be caused by a damaged accumulator, which I would recommend having a transmission specialist repair.

Replacing the fluid to "fix" a problem is only prolonging the inetavable. The only thing to plug up a tranny is tranny parts. Its a closed system, not open to the outside world. Only debris from the tranny will plug it up. So if your changing the fluid to fix it, its only a matter of time before your rebuilding it. Take it to a tranny shop, it could be a broken spring, or something else short of a rebuild.
