You'd be suprised. I would love to play WoW and COD4 and surf the net at the same time.

And so far my E6600 is whooping that ones ass... and for less than I paid for the Athalon back in the day

Why multi-task in a first person shooter? lol

If your load times are that slow, time for a harddrive upgrade

Its the 8800 GTX that is my heat problem :P

My 6400 Black Edition runs at a nice 39C with stock cooling

LOL!

Reminds me, I should put my side panels back on...

I want a better cooling capable case... but I like my shiny blue chrome...

I had to "downgrade" my cooling... My Tornado's were a little too loud...

From about 8 feet away at full power, my computer was making like 75dB... According to the cheapo dB meter my brother bought from RadioShack, lol.

That 8800GTX is damned nice!

Too bad ATI has the edge up on non hardcore gaming video quality, or I'd have switch to NVIDA.... Also, when using the actual S-Video/RCA out... ATI has better TV quality, lol... Or used to...

Just to answer a few dangling questions up there, The slimline is a biatch to work on.  Gotta pull the power supply to get to the ram and gotta take out the cd drive to expose the whole mother board.  Also hp warranty has like a 2 week backlog on slimline parts.

Annddd you can find vista pc's with 512mb ram, but theyre only running vista basic, and most of the ones we carry at circuit city are running with celeron m's...whenever customers ask me if the 512 machines are decent, i just kinda laugh

the one problem with the 8800 gtx is the sheer size.  Takes two slots just to plug in, and I still had to buy a new case cause I couldnt make all my power cables fit around the card to the rest of the board

I have no problem with my GTX's fitting in. I never use pci slots anyways, no need. You dont want anything below the graphics card anyway cause it will cause cooling problems.

The 8600m is good for onboard graphics.

that intel media accelerator is garbage.  good choice on the nvidia.  The only thing you coulda gotten better woulda been to get a custom made laptop with dedicated graphics memory instead of sharing the system memory

i wasnt aware that it shared the system memory...     it said "256MB nVidia GeForce 8600M GT"    i figured that meant it had 256MB dedicated to the video card and then the 2GB ram was left alone...

im not a huge pc gamer though, i play mostly on xbox live

go to your system properties and see how much ram you are running with.  we only carry one laptop in-store at ccity that has dedicated video ram, and it's a 2500 toshiba gaming laptop with HDMI and everything sexy.  2gb is pretty substantial though, even if you are sharing 256mb for video

edit: Did some research, the 8600m GT actually can be quoted as 512mb card.  It's got 256 dedicated (on board) and if your system has 2gb or more it will share up to 255mb of system memory.  the amount of shared memory can be adjusted in the nvidia control center fyi
