I'm lookin to see how big of a upgrade I need on my 99 Blazer.

I'm going to be getting a 1500 Watt amp and I know that seems to be alot of the electrical side.
I'm 17 , so I'm kind of on a budget.
so info would be helpful.

Also what is the specs on the stock amp alt. and battery in the blazer?

thnx for your answers.

What amp do you plan to get?  Is that power for the entire system or just subs?  You'll most likely want to do the alternator first and the battery last.  1500 watts i'd see how the stock alternator handles it first and upgrade as necessary.

i agree with mr blazer. just get it installed and see how your alt handles it, i have a 1500 watt amp on my stock alt and battery and it can handle it pretty good. i have been running it for about a year and just now starting to see some affects on it. you can check your local autoparts store and see what high out put alt they carry

Is 1500 the "RMS" wattage or "Peak" Wattage?

that is reallyjust a personal prefference. some people like the sound of bass in a sealed box and some like ported. personally i like ported boxes. it is louder in a ported box. some poeple say that you get sloppy bass w/ a ported box but thats usually caused by not having the box right. but other people will say differently im sure. but really is just all a matter of what you like

i will always have a ported box unless there is not room for one. thats the only reason i would go with another sealed box

yea. thats my favorite part of mine. that way you dont have to mess with the setting on the headunit after you get them set like you want. you just turn the knob when you dont ant the system hitting. i dont know if yours will do like mine, some do some dont but i can turn the subs comepletely off w/ my knob. it helps you not to get in trouble with the 5-0 too

snail shell ftw

what size power and ground do you have?

1/0 would be best. also search about the "big 3"

also what amp are we talking about?

some amps draw alot more power than others.

lol, it lists it as 1500rms@1ohm "dynamic music watts" haha

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=16697

but theres so way you going to get anywhere near that power for $155. I dont even want to guess at the power.

also its a class a/b amp

are you really set on this amp? if you want some real power I suggest saving up at least $300 for an amp.

you would prolly want a optima yellow top with a 1500 watt amp, with a highoutput alternator if you dont want to worry about electrical problems.
