Hey guys, I just wanted to know when should the water pump be replaced.  On my '96, I have about 101,000 miles on it, and so far, all I have done is changed the thermostat, along with a few radiator flushes, and heater core being changed.  My brother is going to have the water pump on his '00 blazer replaced.  The reason why I am asking is because his has fewer miles than mine, and is newer, and I still haven't replaced my water pump.  I have heard that if it is leaking, it should be replaced.  I really haven't seen any leaking, and my truck hasn't overheated on me.

Don't worry about it.  Replace it when it goes bad.

Ok, but just to make sure, are the signs of a bad water pump overheating and leaking?

Im sure that could indicate a bad pump. I'm sure you would notice it leaking before you got to overheat the engine.

Ok, thanks a lot.  I'm definitely not going to even bother with the water pump now that you guys say that, especially after spending money on repairs that I have already done in the past few days.  lol  Just wanted to know the signs.  Thanks a lot.

I have a '00 with 146,000 miles and the original water pump. Pre Dex-Cool they would last 100,000 miles. Post Dex-Cool and I am trying to find out how long they last. So far 1 1/2 times the pre-dexcool coolant.
