Not too sure I would swap in a V8. All depends on what you want. A stock V8 of old has less power then a modern 4.3V6. Plus it weighs 100 pounds more.

If you do go V8, you may have to go with Dana60 axles too, now your getting expensive. At least with the 4.3 you can still run a D44 and up to a 37" tire or so.

can i convert my blazer to the offroading version, casue we worked on one in my shop and it looked awsome, almost complete skidplations rasied about 2-5 inches hihger then stock i think, just wondering is you could do this, i forget what was on the side but it was Similar in the way that the the z-71 version of a chevy pickup truck

ZR-2.  Different frames.  You can lift it make it look like one, but as Jigg found at when he tried to do so, it's just cheaper in the long run to get rid of the non-ZR-2 and go and buy one.

dam* casue they looked awsome, the underside at least, and the skidplates werent child play there were at least 1/2 think, we could really tell we just guessed
