i was actually looking at the Hifonics BXi2607D. 1700 watts at 2 ohms as opposed to the 1600 with the sundown. what else you got for me? im looking for the cheapest possible solution.

but you wont be getting that out of the Hifonics amp.  They are over-rated.  Loook for a refurb zx2500.

the ZX2500 looks pretty good, but id rather not overpower my subs. wanna keep em as long as possible. its not like they are cheap :D
so anything that can get as close to 2000 rms at 2 ohms would be nice.

Alright so a friend gave me some subs he had laying around. From what I read there pretty bad subs but I have no income at the moment so they will have to do. Ive got 2 RF Punch Model RFZ1412 in a sealed enclosure. I also picked up a Pioneer DEH-P490IB.

I need to know what amp I should use with those subs and headunit. I have a $200 budget but I could possibly go a bit higher if I need to.
I also need to know the size of the door speakers. I have a 96 2-door.

Im looking for an amp that I could possibly upgrade my subs with in the future.

Those are some old school thumpers you picked up man. The old RF stuff is pretty cool stuff. IIRC those are 100wrms each and single 4ohm voice coils(please correct me if im wrong)...So you are going to need an amp that does 200-300w @ 2ohms...A Kicker ZX-300.1 would work perfect and you can get it for $125 shipped from OCS..

Kicker ZX300.1

For the speakers in your truck, its 4x6 on the dash, 6.5" in the doors, and 6x9's in the mid panel...

Thats a mono amp..Is that what I really want? Whats the difference between a mono amp and and a 2 channel amp? Which is better for what I want to do with it?

Mono amps are subwoofer oriented. They are a single channel amp that will not run a stereo signal. The nice thing about 'Class D' Monoblock amps is that they are usually more efficient. This means you get more power and pulling less amperage. They do yield a slightly higher distortion rate, but you will never notice the diffirence when it comes to subwoofers...Mor the most part, mono amps have a lot more control for subwoofers than a 2-channel does...

Also, ohm loads are a big factor in deciding what amp you need...Most two channels will run subwoofers best at 4ohms bridged. Some will go down to 2ohms bridge but not very many, and they are usually higher-end amplifiers. You need a 2ohm final load which is why kickers ZX series is perfect because they all do thier most poer at 2ohms...
