99 Blazer LS 2dr 4x4 It all started when I shifted into 4x4 lo in some snow, and it would shift back to 2hi. After playing around rolling in reverse in neutral it shifted back. Then my Service 4wd light intermittently came on. Well now it comes on all the time, and the 4 Button Electric switch LED's don't light and the Service 4wd light is on all the time when running. I would have tried reading the codes for the TCCM but pin 13 is empty on my DLC connector. Anyways I'm at a standstill with this. Any suggestions. Thanks

Check your 10amp 4WD fuse in the interior fuse panel.

Ran across a shop manual and I was reading over the Encoder Diag. It says When DTC Sets the Service indicator will be on, all shifting disabled, the shift lights will be disabled, and the next time system is powered on the TCCM will power up as if the 4HI was the mode present when powered down. I don't know if this helps anyone. Just thought I'd throw it out there!

I haven't replaced it yet, but as soon as i finish checking the wiring to rule that out I will update the post to let you know the outcome. DOOSER

I have the same issue. I've hooked up a Tech 2 scanner, but am unable to retrieve any codes. It does say that a DTC is present on the ATC. It gives me the option to clear the code. As soon as I do, the service 4wd goes out and immediately comes back on. I have a new encoder motor and had tried to install it prior to getting access to the Tech 2. The new encoder motor engagement slot wasn't in the same postion as the arm on the transfer case. I moved the transfer case arm and installed the new encoder motor. I started the Blazer and had no forward or reverse, so I must assume I was in the neutral postion. I tried to move the engagement slot on the encoder motor to match the arm on the transfer case, but it wouldn't budge. If I plug in the new encoder motor without it being attached to the transfer case, will it move it to the right postion?
