I have a 98 Blazer, 4.3L vortec.  Whenever I run the engine a while and shut it off, I get this strange backfire like sound.  The engine is off and has been setting a few minute, then BOOM.  It sounds like something expanding or contracting quickly.  The weirdest thing is it seems to wait until I'm near it to do it ( I have witness's).  Could it be the Catalytic?
Also my external air temp gauge told me that its 140 degrees F today, its December in Michigan, what the heck?
