So I was talking to one of my buddies, explaining the whole torsion bar suspension concept, and I mentioned the lift via cranking the torsion keys.  He asked "why don't you just convert it to springs and lift it that way??".  I laughed at first, but then started to think...is that actually possible?  I wouldn't call myself an expert on the front suspenion setup, but I feel like there would be a whole lot of parts to replace/fabricate..and through some searching on here I found a thread on SFA..would converting to a SFA require a spring/leaf conversion?

Just a wild idea, but I was curious as to with enough money it might actually be possible..?

with enough money, anythings possible...

yes, an SFA swap would need either leafs or coils

im not sure what all it involves but from everything i have read our ever heard, its a pretty big task to undergo....   Hanr3 can probably answer all your questions though.

I don't think you'd want to run leafs on IFS.  If you were to go with a solid front axle, then leafs are probably the easiest option.  Even at that, it's still a difficult task, as you need to cut off basically the entire front suspension/brackets/etc, and fabricate your own.  There's a company out of Michigan, Diversified Creations, that's owned by a GM engineer (He has an LS6 powered ZR2), that is in the final stages of development for a Solid Front Axle kit, that includes all brackets, etc that you'd need for the swap.  I'd expect it to cost at least $2000 though.

I'm not sure if I'm gonna try for Mike's SFA kit, or if Reallift ever gets their 1-ton kit on the market...

I'm partial to the IFS ride... But it's a noble sacrifice to climb a mountain!

Solid Axle lifts are basically only limited by the ability to turn the axles, lol.

Extend your driveshafts, and make new spring brackets, or go to a 4 link suspension setup to move the axles farther away ;)
