I have an iPod but thats because it was the only thing that worked with my head unit in my truck.  So it plugs into the bottom of the iPod, and I can control the Ipod's screens through the radio and it charges it at the same time.  Since I have the navigation... i cant really put in cd's unless i am not using the navigation's dvd.  so i needed a clean way to have a bunch of music on hand.

I've not used the zune but i've heard its really nice

An ipod is made by Apple, it is one of the highest mp3 players on the market, unlike other mp3 players, it plays movies, music, games, and even has internet (ipod touch). so i would go with an ipod over a zune any day, may be because ive nevered owned a zune, ive had many ipods, and i love them.

Zune has all of that except the internet.    If you want internet on your MP3 player you would need the touch which is $400($150 more than Zune) and has 46GB less memory.

Also, the Zune isn't an "iPod rip-off" it's just another portable media player...

The iPod was far from the first MP3 player on the market

Very true, there are so many other MP3 players out there.  And Ipod was not the first.

At least iTunes doesn't force you to convert ALL your MP3's to the iTunes format anymore...

What?  Maybe I should get a Ipod Touch.

My Cd player is only "ipod" cableable but I use my Zune in mine every day.  You just have to get one of those cables to plug into the outputs in the back and run a cable to the cabin and plug it into your head phone jack on the unit and switch the output on the CD player.

Zune is one of the highest selling right now as well, it also plays movies, music, and games.

The Ipod touch has to be one of the worst gimmicks i've seen ever. You sacrafic space just so you can touch stuff, which even makes it more of a pain to use if you have fat fingers. Ya it will play movies but does anyone know how big movie files really are???? A normal movie "640x480" .avi is about 700megs taking in mind that 1 gig is 1024 megs 'WOW THAT 16 GIGS SURE DOES GO FAST' second and your only looking at putting about 2,000 sounds on it as well as maybe 4 movies.

Itunes, the biggest piece of junk to come up since MavisBacon. In order to transfer files over you have to convert them to a .acc which if you have alot of music like i do is takes forever.

Zune first off you get twice the space of the touch and it costs half the price. The zune is also pretty hard to scratch by sliding it in and out of your pocket like the ipod does if you breathe on it wrong.

The zune software has to be the most retard friendly program i've seen yet. All you have to do is drag and drop files or just go to windows explore and transfer files. Wow how easy is that.

Well there is my little rant. You all know my standing on it. After 7 ipods i've had enough.

When converted to a PMP "friendly" format, most movies are only aboue 200 - 300MB

No, you don't...

It's a 100% free download from the microsoft website...

Windows Media Encoder

if the iPod plays WMV's, then you're set, no matter which one you choose...

The only thing it takes, is time :p

It took my computer about 20 minutes convert an hour or so of xvid video to play on my Gigabeat.
