Good call on the DC Sounds subs. Very solid drivers. Ive tested levels 2-4 and each has definitely impressed me. those Level 2's are about the meanest 300wrms sub I've got to play with...I actually just decided to pick them up as a new line...

well all depends after i rebuild my motor, still working on that, but idk it depends, i have a power acoustik LT1920 amp right now that im powering 2 12's with, and its pretty loud, my price range is pretty low right now, say 250 at the most for each sub.

You're definately going to want to throw some more wattage into your bass system down the road. 800w is good, but your going to want to bump that up if you want to make a stretch for the low 140's...134.7 isnt too bad, honestly. If you wanted to upgrade your subs and keep that amp you should check out DC Sounds Level 2 subs. They are rated at 300wrms but can take 500 daily no problem. You could probably push low 140's with two 15"s. That is if you want to take up the whole cargo area...

You ahve to build a box, or have one built for you. Thats the only way you are going to get those higher numbers. What type of box do you have right now? My motto is if you can fit it, go as big as you can. The more cone area you have the less effort it takes to get loud. For the most part quality subwoofers use the same motor for each series of woofer and just change the cone and basket for diffirent sizes. If you can runn 400w to a 10", or 400w to an 18", which is going to be louder? Its all about what you can fit and how much room you want to take up. I personally have always found room to go big My old comp car/daily driver...148.3 sealed at the dash.

i looks like his box is sealed....maybe a simple reconstruction to a ported box will increase his numbers a little

my box i have now is sealed but it was fit for my olds cutlass i have, but when i bought my blazer i put the system in that and didnt have the money to build a new box, so it would be louder if i made a huge box? and would i have to port the box for it to be louder?

A properly build prted enclosure has the ability to get nearly twice as loud and produce much lower frequencies than a sealed box can. You shouldnt be scared to build one, its in fact very simple. You can get a design plan from someone online. You can have your local hardware store cut the wood for you, and then all you have to do is glue and screw. Building a custom ported enclosure is the cheapest and most efficient way to enhance your bass...

ORIGINAL: Jharper so it would be louder if i made a huge box? and would i have to port the box for it to be louder? bigger box can be louder but just because you make a huge box doesnt make it louder, there is a such thing as top big, if the box gets too big its almost like running it in free air. so dont let people mislead you. and a ported box will make it louder lets say a sub needs a 2 cube box and you stick in a 7 cube box its not going to be louder because you have abigger box.

I think generally they say porting will add around 3db......not twice as loud. your saying if I hit 140 db sealed....port it and i will be at 280dbs?

ORIGINAL: blazinloud I think generally they say porting will add around 3db......not twice as loud. your saying if I hit 140 db sealed....port it and i will be at 280dbs? Doubling the SPL is not going from 140dB to 280dB... That would actually be close to 12x gain in SPL. A deciBel by definition can be boiled down to a ratio of powers/pressures/etc (dB = 10 * log(P1/P0) where P0 is the reference power/pressure/etc level and P1 is the power/pressure/etc level being sampled). Pressure is proportional to the square of SPL (sound pressure level) in this case. +3dB corresponds to a doubling of pressure. +6dB is 4 times the ppressure and since pressure = SPL^2, this also is double the SPL. So, to double the SPL, you actually need an increase of 6dB. You are correct in saying that a 3dB gain is not going to be twice as loud, but it is a lot closer than you gave it credit for. It will be 1.414 times louder in SPL terms.
