I bought my brother-in-law's 1988 2WD 2door S-10 Blazer, sight unseen. Even though he drove it for 14 years, he is not really up on information. I did a search here, but no luck, so sorry for the noob question. Edmunds.com was no use either. I am looking for any specs on the 2.8L engine: oil capacity, engine output in HP and lbs-ft, etc. Thanks in advance - I look forward to learning much on this forum. ---------------------------------- 1988 S-10 Blazer, 2wd, 4spd auto

Are you sure it's an '88?? I thought '87 was the last year for the 2.8L in the S-series SUV's... The 2.8L V6 173cid. They're 60 degree V, overhead valve engines with cast iron block and heads. Bore is 3.503 inches (89mm) and stroke is 2.992 inches (76mm). The firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6. The cylinders are numbered 2-4-6 on the driver side bank, and 1-3-5 on the passenger side which is reverse of the 4.3L v6. The TBI motor, used from '86-'88 (only '86-'87 in the Blazer/Jimmy, IIRC): RPO: LL2 VIN: R Compression Ratio 8.5:1 125 H.P. @ 4800 RPM 150 FT-LBS @ 2200 RPM Oil capacity should be in the realm of 5-6 qts.

Thanks, that's very helpful. I'm sure it's an '88 - in fact, below is from the CARFAX report I ran. The R in the VIN number confirms the info you shared above about the 2.8L. Thanks again. From Carfax: 1988 CHEVROLET S10 BLAZER 1GNCS18R4J011xxxx TWO SEAT 2.8L V6 TBI OHV 12V / REAR WHEEL DRIVE
