You'll need to find your RPO code list.  Once you decode the list, it'll tell you every regular production option installed on your vehicle.  It should be located on the inside of your glovebox door.  Run a search on RPO codes for a link to various decoders.

Hmm...  Well, other option would be to open up the rear diff and either count the teeth on the ring and pinion or the ratio may possibly be stamped on the ring gear...  If there is still any tags on the rear axle, you may be able to get the info from there as well, but I doubt that any of the factory identification tags would still be there...

One other possibility is to jack up the rear end and put the transmission in neutral.  Mark one of the cups on the u-joint and put a mark on the front of the diff housing.  Then count how many turns of the driveshaft it takes to spin the tires 1 full turn (provided that both tires are spinning).  3.42 gears will require that the driveshaft spin 3.42 times for 1 revolution of the tires.  3.73 ratio == 3.73 turns of the driveshaft.  You get the picture.

I had GM run my vin (85 s10 blazer 2dr 4x4 2.8 auto) and has 4.11's.  When I had the rear diff cover off I was able to confirm that by counting the teeth.  Just ask a GM parts guy to run your vin and see what it came with.
