ORIGINAL: 4lowlife Where did you stick the DMM to set your voltages? At the speaker outputs? I used good 'ol audible distortion as a reference seting the gains. Primitive but It's what I did. yes, unplug the (-) wire of whatever terminal your setting gains for, then put the (+) prong up to the (+) terminal and the (-) prong up to the (-) terminal. start with gains at minimum, then slowly turn them up until the DMM read the desired V (square root(power x impedance)). Setting gains by listening for distortion also work, but if you dont have a good ear, you may either clip the amp or not get all the power you can out of it. I myself cannot hear distortion that well so i choose to use a DMM. but undoubtably the best way to do it is to use an o-scope. you can visially see when the signal clips, so youll get the most outta your amp. but those things are at the lowest a couple hundred. and i dont got that kinda money, lol.

You can get an oscilliscope fairly cheap, just look into used equipment, like if a school is upgrading to better equipment. A guy I was buying a sound card from had a mini o-scope from B&K Precision on eBay for $150. I should've bought it. I've got two pair of 1x/10x scope probes now, and other o-scope wires. I didn't know what they did yet. It was before we had gotten around to using them. Someone from class was saying you can create on o-scope out of a computer screen. Not accurate, but you can see the signal. You could create your own lines, so it would be kinda close. Not very many functions, I would imagine. Handheld o-scope.

I used o scopes when I went to ITT. Laid off from work and spending money on diapers for our 3 week old will kepp me from purchasing some stuff for awhile. Until I get my tax return. heh heh

Been to Stowe, VT. I passed Killington at night on the way to Stowe. Didn't know it was there until the trip home. Holiday Valley ski is alright. 82 mi drive one way. The slopes here are glorified sled hills. I haven't done anything anywhere else. My cousin in Cali broke his collar bone a few weeks ago at Ski Heavenly I wouldn't mind trying PA's slopes. They seem like the ones up here. I don't think I 'll bedriving 200+ miles for 15 trails. probably 9 usable for boarders. If I did might as well stop in New Hope, PA and say hi to the seller of this Blazer!

Anyone use dual batteries and an isolator? Have capacitors? Kinda overkill, but interesting to see how folks like using it.
