Where did you stick the DMM to set your voltages? At the speaker outputs?

I used good 'ol audible distortion as a reference seting the gains. Primitive but It's what I did.

yes, unplug the (-) wire of whatever terminal your setting gains for, then put the (+) prong up to the (+) terminal and the (-) prong up to the (-) terminal. start with gains at minimum, then slowly turn them up until the DMM read the desired V (square root(power x impedance)). Setting gains by listening for distortion also work, but if you dont have a good ear, you may either clip the amp or not get all the power you can out of it. I myself cannot hear distortion that well so i choose to use a DMM. but undoubtably the best way to do it is to use an o-scope. you can visially see when the signal clips, so youll get the most outta your amp. but those things are at the lowest a couple hundred. and i dont got that kinda money, lol.

You can get an oscilliscope fairly cheap, just look into used equipment, like if a school is upgrading to better equipment. A guy I was buying a sound card from had a mini o-scope from B&K Precision on eBay for $150. I should've bought it. I've got two pair of 1x/10x scope probes now, and other o-scope wires. I didn't know what they did yet. It was before we had gotten around to using them. Someone from class was saying you can create on o-scope out of a computer screen. Not accurate, but you can see the signal. You could create your own lines, so it would be kinda close. Not very many functions, I would imagine.

Handheld o-scope.

Thanks for the suggestion. I used o scopes when I went to ITT. Laid off from work and spending money on diapers for our 3 week old will kepp me from purchasing some stuff for awhile. Until I get my tax return. heh heh

Been to Stowe, VT. I passed Killington at night on the way to Stowe. Didn't know it was there until the trip home.

Holiday Valley ski is alright. 82 mi drive one way. The slopes here are glorified sled hills.

I haven't done anything anywhere else. My cousin in Cali broke his collar bone a few weeks ago at Ski Heavenly

I wouldn't mind trying PA's slopes.

I checked out the first 3 you listed. They seem like the ones up here. I don't think I 'll bedriving 200+ miles for 15 trails. probably 9 usable for boarders.

If I did might as well stop in New Hope, PA and say hi to the seller of this Blazer!

actually, every single mountain i listed allows boarders on all slopes. but still, theres no point in the drive. except montage. its the farthest north and they have one of the most killer double blacks. its like a frickin wall of ice that goes straight up, lol. new hope is pretty close to my home in southampton (and its where all the homosexuals live) lol.

Anyone use dual batteries and an isolator? Have capacitors?
Kinda overkill, but interesting to see how folks like using it.

dual bats are pretty much only for competition cause i car sits idle or when the engine must be off. caps are pretty much a waste. the only thing theyre good for is helping with dimming lights, but theyre just another strain on the electrical system. and what kinda isolator are you talking about?

I agree with the capacitor thing. I had one on my old system and it reall didnt do much accept the lights. But i dont really know if it would work well with my new system at all . (6 kicker Comps(1800watts)) surprisingly just a yellowtop is working for me on that.

Also sorry for just throwing myself in this conversation and being a newbie to the forum :D

if your having problems with dimming lights the first thing you should do is upgrade the BIG3. the BIG3 is 1. the positive wire from the alt to the bat, 2. the ground wire from the bat to the chassis, and 3. the ground wire from the chassis to the engine. Theres no need to remove the stock wires, just add new wire. You should use 0 gauge wire. Some people like to put a fuse in on the alt to bat wire, but i dont see it as necessary. if this doesnt help, then you should next consider a high output alternator.
