Okay. I drive a 95 blazer, 4DR 4x4, LT tahoe trim. I have stock rims and tires. I want a 2-3" lift,

My first question is, would my car look rediculous with stock tires with that lift, even with it being small?

Second question is, where can i get the kits, and how much. my uncle can pretty much do it all with that kind of stuff, so installation isnt really a problem, but price is. (HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT EARNING MIN WAGE )

I found a body lift kit(2"), 150 bucks. Would that do the trick?

Do you have the 235 tires??

Gonna need new tires soon?

body lift gives more clearance for tires, but, shackles on the rear springs (or, add-a-leaf) gives more ground clearance, and you can get an inch or two by doing to torsion bar crank.

I would wait until you were ready to upgrade tires before doing a lift.

Body lifts are body lifts. You wont gain any real ground clearance because your frame stays in the same position.  A body lift is more for looks and the ability to clear bigger tires.  AS for your first question, thats opinion.  THIS THREAD Here is kankoon52 explaining how to install the body lift, he's got pics with the body lift and stock tires, and then with bigger tires.  Send him a PM for more info.  His finished product with more lift is here clearing 31's.

$150 sounds decent on the kit, just make sure it comes with bushings (lift blocks), bumper relocation brackets so your truck doesnt look silly, and all necessary hardware to install.  More expensive kits may come with gap guards to cover the gaps left when the body raises 2'' up off the frame.

Just remember...use that search feature! LOTS of posts on this topic.

EDIT: Listen to HeyYou.  I got new rims on my blazer, and I'm lifting it in the future, but I've got about 3-5k miles left on my tires, so I'm waiting till they need replacing to install the lift with the new tires.  Pretty pointless to buy bigger tires with no lift, and no tires with bigger lift IMO.

if ur not lookin for a body lift there are suspension lifts that give u more ground clearance. if ur suspension hasnt been replaced or anything and is all original or old and worn out i would suggest this suspension lift. suspension lifts are pretty pricey but this is one of the cheapest i've found and its pretty good. i'm lookin to buy it when i get the money. just savin lil by lil

or you can jsut crank your torsion bars (FREE!) and get lift shackles (<$100) to achieve the same thing...     rough county 2" comes wiht torsion keys (basically cranking them yourself) and add-a-leaf for the rear. it also comes with new upper control arms which arent all that necessary.

blueknight you think with that Rough Country kit you can swap out different shocks?  I don't know how I feel about those RC shocks...I like the Bilsteins.  But dang 430 for the kit, that looks pretty good to me!

with regards to the new control arms, this kit comes with new ball joints..and I think I'm in need of some new uppers in the future anway...and considering just the lowers cost me 390, that kit looks pretty good just from that stand point if nothing else

Okay. Well. Heres one more question since we are already here. If i decide to wait a while, and just do the two inch lift(thats all i want, ground clearance isnt really too big of an issue to me at the moment) could i put bigger tires, on the rims that can fit my stock tires?

also, these are brand new tires i jsut got, lol, as in a week old, almost..

they are necessary if you dont want the front end wear, changing the control arms fix the geometry of the front end to how it should be.

yes, you can put bigger wheels on stock rims. im assuming you put 235/75r15's on. with a 2" lift, you should be able to fit 31" tires on...

they might help reduce balljoint wear slightly but the cv angles will still be super inclined with or without the UCA's

Ok what about this. I get the Rough Country kit.  I install everything, but I keep the factory torsion keys to keep from torquing the TBars too much (don't wanna snap a tbar or anything with a different key).  Since theres no diff drop bracket, I'm still placing wear on CVs but not on balljoints since I've got the new UCAs?  I don't like your use of 'super' inclined CVs in relation to the kit.  Makes me nervous.

maybe super isnt the right word. but they will be at a greater angle than if they were left alone. go look at the cv shafts. take a long ruler or some sort of straight line... line it up at the inner edge of the cv shaft and move the outer edge of the ruler down 2" (or however many inches you wanna crank the tbars) thats where the cv shafts will be...

i think balljoints are more of an issue than the cv shafts though. i guess i never really thought about the rough country coming with new upper balljoints, but it makes sense...

i dont think i would spend any money on a 2" lift kit. either way you lift it, its going to create more wear (unless you drop the diff)

BODYLIFT FTW!

well can you get a diff drop bracket for not much...or is that what makes the superlift/trailmaster kits so much money and require so much fabrication?

Bingo! You win the Cigar! Dropping the front diff is not a cheap endeavor, and considering the loads placed on this particular component, the engineering is no small feat either, and that is indeed why the are hideously expensive.

Given the number of S trucks that use these axles in front, I am rather surprised that no one has come up with a modified design, that will operate at steeper angles..... Seems there would be a hell of a lot of demand for it. Or, if ya wanted to get REALLY weird, a narrowed front diff, and longer axles...... (thereby reducing operating angles.) Not sure how effective the second option would be. It would certainly not be cheap.
