Hey all what's going on?  First time poster and I just want to say I know NOTHING about cars lol.

Anyways...I purchased a 1991 Chevy Blazer for $550.00 out of desperation because if you live in the city, you NEED a vehicle...ESPECIALLY if the west side of Des Moines doesn't have public transportation!   Long story short I was in the middle of turning and the damn slick road forced me into a curb head on...ruining my transmission on my 1992 Ford Taurus...which sucks cuz I loved that car!!!!

I was at Target (ironically I work at Target but I was at one that I didn't work at) and started to drive out of the parking lot and if any of you guys live in Des Moines, Iowa and have been to the Valley West Target there is this sewage bridge gap dip in the smack middle of the parking lot...VERY annoying.  Anyways I cross it (It's only about a foot wide) and then I hear something clank off and it started dragging...I'm like "Oh god..." and I drove a little bit more shortly after that the I heard a huge ca clank and stopped immediately...I did some research online and I think it's called the stabilizer (the bar that is between the two front tires).

The first day I got this vehicle I drove it to Saint Joseph, MO (about 200 miles away from Des Moines, Iowa) and it drove like a cloud!  Nothing wrong...everything worked great!  But I am planning to drive to St. Joe again this weekend and I am wondering if I don't put it back on will it screw up my suspension?  I talked to my dad about it and he said it's okay to drive without it (but what does my dad know lol...he's the typical Ford lovin' NASCAR fan blah blah blah).  So please help me out guys and gals....if necessary to reach me please *snip* PM me or reply ASAP!  Thanks for your input!

*EDIT by swartlkk* - Removed phone number...  Not a good idea to post your phone number in a public forum as it is a good way to get some very unwanted calls.

I would put the stabalizer bar back on, if its what im thinking it is the bar that goes across the front and connects to the lower control arms on each side, if so the bar is supposed to be connected to the frame rails with a bushing and bracket with two bolts, when you locate this put it back on its actually called the sway bar and prevents excessive sway movements in the front!!

Any way you can take a picture of what exactly happen...  Sway bars don't just fall off.  Typically the end links will break causing clunking in the front, but not stuff dragging on the ground.

And yes, I would recommend you get it fixed.  A few hand tools and replacement links/bushings and you should be able to get it back together in short order.
