The only way your gonna get a chip that works good is to have one custom burnt for your truck and the mods you have done to it. The mass produced chips leave too many things to chance and are just a waste of money.

Can't help ya on the tranny.

ive done a little searching on the hypertech program. it raises your limiters, change shifting ratios, turn stuff on and off, but does it really do anything for your power band? any kind of hp gains??

I had a HyperTec for my Trans Am.  It did a little bit for the power, but the thing I liked best about it was it really firmed up my shifting, so that alone was worth it for me.

Im not sure on the tranny thing, but the jet chip i do know does shift a little harder i had a friend who had one in his blazer but im not sure really if it helped with the hp since i didnt know what it was like without the chip. ive also been looking into getting one i know Jcwhitney has one for about 200 bucks but its a general one for blazers and not custom to your mods.

I had a jet chip in my 1995 s-10 blazer 4.3L CPI 2wd 2dr. It was a Stage 1 chip. I bought two years ago from Summit for $169.95 free shipping. I asked the rep if My K&N intake, Elderbrock TES Headers, Magnaflow CAT, and Magnaflow Muffler would be better for either a stage 1 or 2. I got the Stage 1. There was an instant difference in throttle response, no rev limiter, no speed limiter, quickier. They are worth the price. If you change anything internal engine wise then you have to get a modifed chip $350-$400 from Superchips.

PCM Tune FTW!!!

There are a few different companies online that will either custom tune your PCM or tune another PCM and send it to you. I had mine done at www.wait4meperformance.com  $157 for an entire tuned PCM. If you send them yours, I believe its as low as $75.

I think its a better deal than buying a chip or programmer. The company is owned and run by a guy and his wife. He hand tunes it specifically how you ask. He can tune for various octanes and offers free updates for life. However, I dont think they offer tuning for trucks with OBD1.5...  Only OBDI and OBDII
