ok so when i changed my air filter today i saw that it is a very SMALL hole in which the engine draws its air frm, i was wondering wat if i cut i much much larger hole, almost the complete side where the air filter is to allow more air to entera(i would use likeadremel to cut it open or something similar)

o btw those k&n $50 filters Are REALLY good, i notice significant increase in perormace, whether you peep think it dose anything or not, i could certinaly feel a differenceAA

so basicly the thing that the air filter is in it says v6 vortec on it, i want to cut the bottom off of that

The flute tube is designed to fit the hole in the radiator shroud. I've actually heard of some people taking off the flute and heating it nearly to melting and streching it so the middle of it is wider. Whther that helps much, I don't know. Cutting the bottom of the box isn't too smart because it will allow hot air to enter the box, thus reducing power. It will also cause the filter to suck up water if you ever do any extreme driving/river running.

Have a read through THIS POST.

One thing that you DO NOT want to do is start introducing hot underhood air into the intake.  That is worse than pulling it through the stock path.  If you do anything, stretch out or otherwise replace the front tube with a larger one.
