Would anyone know what would cause the check engine light to come on only when it is idling. If you push the gas pedal a little 1 or 2 times while idling ,it will go out between 10 & 15 seconds then come back on.While you are driving it does not so much as flicker on. Would really appreciate the help. *Moved to 1st Gen Tech*

Welcome to teh site. Get the codes read. Even if the light goes off it will store the codes for a while. Check with your favorite autoparts store, most read codes for free. Post up what they tell you and we cna point you in the right direction.

I purchased a G.M Computer Code Reader and it put out code#12(diagnostic mode;no distributor signal to electronic control module;system pass) and code #35(Idle speed control or circuit failure or idle air control valve or circuit failure).Would these be difficult to locate and change.

code number 12 is not a part that needs to be replaced its more like a "system check" as i under stand. code 35 idle air control valve is a part under the plastic decal VORTEC. All you should need is a torque set to replace. I am not sure if it is something that can be cleaned, and reused.
