even though it has been explained countless times, i will do so again. if the tire size is (LT/P)235/75r15 LT stands for light truck and P stands for passenger 1st number (235) width in mm of the tread. in this case, the tread would be 235mm, 23.5cm, or 9.252" (2.54cm = 1") 2nd number (75) is the ratio of the tread width to the sidewall height. in this case, the sidewall is 75% as wide as the tread. 0.75 x 235 = 176.25mm. this means that from the top of the rim to the top of the tire is 176.25mm, 17.625cm, or 6.939" 3rd number (15) is the diameter of the rim now, to put it into context, Rim Height + (sidewall x2) = total height of tire. 15 + (2 x 6.939) = 28.878... this means a tire that is 235/75r15 is 28.878" tall and 9.252" wide another common measurements would be, say 31x10.5x15... 31" tall, 10.5" wide and a 15" rim
