Hi There I just picked up a pair of mb quart psd-216's for my 2000 and was wondering if I could get away with not amping them, I use the truck for work alot (usually my seats are lying flat) and would rather not have an amp bolted down in the back, did I make a mistake buying them or will the 50w from my deck be fine? thanks so much for your help.

Yes it will be fine as long as you don't turn it up to the point of distorting them. Distortion kills speakers.

Your 50w head unit, is it per channel rms? Or something like 12.5watts (at channels?)

what kind of head unit do you have? it doesnt put out 50w per channel. thats just the max rating. the RMS is probably somewhere in the ballpark of 17-22watts rms if you have a decent deck. you can hook them up to the deck but i wouldnt recommend it. component speakers are really designed for an auxilary amp. you wont get to really hear their true power without an aux amp. and you could always find a place to stuff an amp.
