What is this part for?  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hydroboost-fuer-Chevy-Astro-Van-C-K-Pick-up-Blazer_W0QQitemZ180220392580QQihZ008QQcategoryZ76075QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Here is a rough translation (courtesy of freetranslation.com):

Offer here an absolutely unused and therefore mint Hydroboost for Chevy C/K packed-ups, Blazer, Astro-Van or other.  Also possibly suited to the universal retrofitting, about that more information under: hydratechbraking. com/products/

Not suitably at military M1008-M1010 in the model 81-87 or only with Adapter for tube connections.

The Hydroboost is NO overtaken, but rather a new part - because of the long warehouse time here only as mint offered.

Still doesn't answer your question but might lead someone on the right path.

Thanks TBB.

Did that answer the question...?

A hydroboost is a brake assist device that uses an hydraulic pump attached to the motor to assist the braking instead of a vacuum cylinder.  The 2500/3500 GMC/Chevy pickups have used these setups for a while.

Google it for more info.

so its like a j-brake but using hydraulic fluid instead of exhaust?

swartlkk -> RE: Hydro boost Uh! (3/11/2008 6:33:21 PM)

No.  It replaces the vacuum booster in a conventional vacuum assist brake system.

They are said to give higher brake line presures than the vaccum booster.  I believe it attaches to the power steering pump.  My old 92 silverado has one, kick the brake pedal and you would send your face through the windshield.
