Was talkin to a mechanic earlier, an he says not to mess with the exhaust at all, something to do with the suspension. Any truth in that? Or is it just his opinion, i waht to make mine LOUD!!

Ill i gotta say is.....wow dude. He really said that?

swartlkk -> RE: Rumor? (3/11/2008 8:40:11 PM)

The suspension...?  Wow...  That's something new...  You don't have anything to worry about, suspension wise...

Taymacjack -> RE: Rumor? (3/11/2008 8:44:38 PM)

was the mechanic holding a cardboard sign?

navyblue_sk8er -> RE: Rumor? (3/11/2008 8:54:47 PM)

Thats why I don't let mechanics touch my vehicles.

94blueknight -> RE: Rumor? (3/11/2008 9:44:26 PM)

wow thats a new one lol only thing i can think of that relates to the suspension and exhaust is if u want custom piping that would be the closest thing (of which isnt close at all) but wow u should maybe consider a diff mechanic lol

a_tack -> RE: Rumor? (3/11/2008 11:09:29 PM)

maybe he was referring to it being difficult to route duals around the rear end/leaf springs?? thats the only logical thing I can come up with..lol

Take your truck to a muffler shop, they shouldn't have any problems doing a custom exhaust system for ya.

swartlkk -> RE: Rumor? (3/12/2008 5:05:51 AM)

Aaron, that really doesn't make too much sense either.  Exhaust typically stays between the frame rails...

cliro -> RE: Rumor? (3/12/2008 6:25:47 AM)

you sure he said suspension, lol.

tjwiens91@hotmail.co -> RE: Rumor? (3/12/2008 2:53:47 PM)

Well in the summer i would like to get a dual exhaust put in after i put on the shackles, an tires. I dont take my vehicle to him, my dad takes his, he likes his pickup plain. So my dad told me that. sorry for the confusion.

actually kyle, on our trucks, the exhaust crosses over the leaf springs and then out the side.  i could see if you were doing dual exhaust, the exhaust could interfere with the suspension. especially on the drivers side. the gas tank along with the spare tire could make for a difficult exhaust path...

EDIT:  what i wrote above may not be entirely true. on my truck, the exhaust pipe crosses over the leaf springs. i was under the impression that the shop i had it done at had followed the original routing. after seeing a few blazer/s10's tonight, i think the stock exhaust does stay b/w the rails and then turn out under the springs

that made me laugh

tjwiens91@hotmail.co -> RE: Rumor? (3/12/2008 7:35:06 PM)

So your sayin stick with the single just make it bigger?

a_tack -> RE: Rumor? (3/12/2008 9:11:05 PM)

Kyle, what I meant is i've seen alot of shops try to run duals over the leaf springs. Thats what I thought the mechanic might have been referring to. Maybe he meant don't mess with duals because he thought that they would be ran through the suspension. I should have been more clear on that...
