I could take a guess at what the fluid was, but did you happen to touch it and see what color it was or what it felt like? Have you checked the level in your power steering fluid reservoir?

DO NOT drive the car until you identify where the fluid is coming from.  I would go out on a limb and guess that it is power steering fluid due to the other symptoms you are experiencing, however, you have to confirm that.  Check the res level as Rich has suggested.

As far as the EGR valve goes, this is a common issue among a wide variety of s-series years.  You can remove the EGR valve, clean it, and reinstall it with a new gasket (one that has a screen on the inlet side) and the symptoms associated with this (your rough idle issue you noted in another thread), will most likely be cleared up.
