I am hoping to get a little help with this issue as it is driving me nuts.

I recently had problems starting my blazer, and with the help of a friend tapping on the starter, it would start.  We decided to buy a new starter and replace the old one.  Problem is, we can't get the old one out.  The bolts come out fine, but there doesn't seem to be quite enough room to manuever it out.  Do i need to remove anything first? Is there a special trick to this?

Thanks in advance.

It is definitely an exercise in patience to get a starter out of these things.  You will be twisting and turning it quite a bit trying to see exactly how it comes down out of there and then all of the sudden, it'll just drop out.  As the thread linked to above, drop the torque converter cover out of the way and that should get you a bit more room.  The ~97+ don't have that option though.
