Rachel, I know what you mean I was just messing with ya! Steve, loaning money and just freely giving it away are two different things. You still have to pay for it.

My take on the matter? Yeah, theres some nuts out there, but you can't blame parenting on all of them. I think its the lack therof. Theres a lot of kids that I know that are raised by their grandparents or older siblings who are too old or too caught up in their own things to take care of them and give them attention. They get out on the streets and find a way to be accepted, whether its via gangs or whatever. Most of these kids want attention or either they have peer pressure to do something. Some are even raised in a household where there is abuse and in one case recently that I know of, drug labs. As far as my parents go, they know they can trust me. I've never betrayed that trust or I'd have heard something like "I'll jerk a knot in you" or "I'll mash your mouth" and my sister gets this one a lot: "One more time and I'm burn your ass up". Whenever that's said, you were going to bed with a sore bum and you didn't forget about it.

ya this world is tryin to become stupid proof and give everyone rights to everything. well just like there r laws in this world people do not need every right. we have speed limits to keep people safe thus should be the same with parents controling their kids. it has become the lazy parents fault to not properly teach their kids the right things in life. peerpressure is only for the ones that fall to it like kyle said if ur friends try to tempt u into doin something that u dont want to and wont be ur friend and understand if u dont then they rnt ur true friends. i wasnt really the popular kid in high school and i'm not really one in college. i have my true friends (not that many but that doesnt matter) ur true friends r the people that help u out. the friends u think u have that dont do much but try to get u like them r not ur friends. this world has become too tech savy where just yesterday i saw a kid that was about 10 riding his bike on his cell phone! kids their age do not need a cell phone their parents pick them up and drop them off at places that have phones they should use those. i'm pretty sure any good parent doesnt let their kid wander off too far with out knowing about it. sometimes people need to forget about the tech stuff and just go back to normal. i tell u when this world comes to everything that is technology and electrically controlled and it all crashes the world will crash too i'm glad i wont get that involved and am still one to know how to do stuff the old skool way

I think a kid can handle money, as long as the parents keep 'em grounded, and still teach 'em responsibility. Just because someone's parents buy them a car doesn't mean they're doomed to failure and will never understand responsibility. The problem arises when a parent is more afraid of their kid not liking them than them being a bad parent. Also, if a child is shown respect and their opinions are valued, the child will value that respect and other people's opinions and the concept of authority.

As a nation, we suffer from alot of first world diseases (aka cutting, suicide, anorexia, death threats). Bad parenting and over-parenting (IE. doing everything for your kids) are mostly to blame for these types of things in my opinion. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if this kid was on some sort of anti-depressant of some sort. Maybe if we could stop drugging up our kids and start parenting them by teaching them responsibility and respect, we could stop these kinds of events. If only we were a first world country with a third world attitude.

I have a mental dissorder, Its not one that will make me go out ad kill people, but its one none the less. I take medication for anti-depressents and im fine. its when you stop taking them that you start thinking stupidly and senselessly.

its not just the messed up kids that make these threats. the kids in our school know that if there is a bomb threat that school will be cancelled. last year we had six bomb threats, the year before we had zero. the kids that got caught pretty much just got a slap on the wrist and a small fine from the county police. what ever happened to serious punishments?

Yeah there need to be more serious punishments for kids that do what BlackBlaze said, I know once I left my highschool, my brother is still there and they have had more days off of school since kids making fake threats. quote:
ORIGINAL Taymacjack: Maybe if we could stop drugging up our kids and start parenting them by teaching them responsibility and respect, we could stop these kinds of events. I agree, I had a psychology teacher in highschool that had her 3-4 year on ritlan (the add medication) I was like they are 3-4 years old of course they are going to be energetic and running all over, are you stupid. People that medicate children for anything other than actual sickness/diseases are stupid. All I ever had was tylenol when I had a headache and cold/flu meds when I had a cold or the flu. I think parenting (or lack thereof) is one of the major problems at hand. I am going to stop ranting now cause if I kept going I could write a novel.

I went to the same school as Steve and back then (1994-1998) there was no serious problems. Every school has thier fights and stuff and once a kid pulled a kife (I wasn't there to see it) but nothing like death threats or anything. What is this world coming to quote:
