I don't think they have the weight carrying ability I need, lmao j/k

The A Team -> RE: Official MPG Poll (5/26/2008 7:01:41 PM)

haha it looks likei am average....and i though mine was bad 19 mpg woot!!!  :(

smdepew1976 -> RE: Official MPG Poll (5/27/2008 5:13:47 PM)

i drive 900 miles a week for work in my blazer and i get 23.8mpg on almost every tank.....it's 2wd 4.3 1996 and thats with 87 octane....anyone know if these blazers will run on e85?

Yooper -> RE: Official MPG Poll (5/27/2008 7:30:26 PM)

Haven't "Officially" added my input.  In about a month I am going to be taking a 831 mile trip from here at Fort Riley to The Upper Penninsula of Michigan.  I figured that would be a perfect time to computer my MPG.

smdepew1976 -> RE: Official MPG Poll (5/29/2008 3:44:54 PM)

I've also been toying with swapping in a 5 speed and some 3.08's in the rear

drperry -> RE: Official MPG Poll (5/29/2008 5:42:05 PM)

You'll get decent highway mileage, at least...

Blazer is too heavy for 3.08s around town... Even with a 5 speed... A 2wd S10 would be good, with those gears, though.

They can but it will cause the check engine the to come on.  The O2 sensor detects to much oxygen in the exhaust.  If you really want to you can get away with 50% E85, 50% regular gasoline.  You'll probably need to change your fuel filters more often because of the alcohol dissolving the crud in your fuel tank and lines.

drperry -> RE: Official MPG Poll (5/31/2008 2:31:04 AM)

E85 refers to the percentage of ethenol... You'd want E50, lol.

I don't think the Blazer would like E85...

smdepew1976 -> RE: Official MPG Poll (5/31/2008 9:55:37 AM)

90% of my driving is in town and it's just a 2wd thats why i figured 3.08's but maybe 3.42's with a 5 speed would be better? would i really notice any difference?

drperry -> RE: Official MPG Poll (5/31/2008 11:24:12 AM)

Yes.

3.08 gives you less acceleration ability. You might be okay with a 2wd... but a Blazer is still kinda heavy for that...

My 4x4 Blazer with 3.42s on factory rubber could do 18 if a babied it.

smdepew1976 -> RE: Official MPG Poll (6/8/2008 9:55:24 AM)

hummm..... I guess i never really thought much about the weight since all the mid 80''s g bodies had 273''s and gotta be with-in 500 pounds of a 2wd blazer......but i dunno for sure......i can pick up the entire set-up for less that 100 bucks so maybe i''ll just try it too see....... i really wanna keep this blazer but i need to get 30mpg or so out of it......idea??

Kage0113 -> RE: Official MPG Poll (6/8/2008 8:34:51 PM)

I am getting 16mpg. This only happened after I put in a K&N air filter, just the stock replacement. Before that I was only getting 14mpg. I just put in Mobil 1 synthetic, so amybe it''ll go up a couple mpg.

william.bonnie -> RE: Official MPG Poll (6/15/2008 2:06:09 PM)

95 2WD 4DR 4.3 no idea of gears. The up side of my mpg is 24 hwy, the down side is something like 7 city. thanks to leaking FPR.

bad350v8s10tahoe -> RE: Official MPG Poll (6/15/2008 3:02:11 PM)

I get about 18 hiway and 8 in town, i cant stay out of the secondaries for long [8D]

El_Beautor -> RE: Official MPG Poll (7/21/2008 8:21:01 AM)

I''m getting between 19-21 mpg with my 96 4x4 4 door. I have the 4.3L and I''m not sure about the gear ratio. I do about 85% Hwy driving and the rest in a rural town; ie. Little or no stop and go. I''ve found that I''ve slowed down my driving style since getting this truck. I used to drive a Honda Prelude, and I averaged about 75-80 mph, but now I drive between 65 and 70mph on the highway.

Leper -> RE: Official MPG Poll (9/11/2008 6:22:49 AM)

Man I just owned my 02 4dr jimmy for 2 weeks and this thing is an absoloute PIG!!!!  I had a jeep tj "wrangler" which got me 410km''s per tank, same tank size and i''m lucky if I hit 300km''s with this horrid gas guzzler.  I should of bought a Hemi would of saved gas :-(

95Blzr -> RE: Official MPG Poll (9/11/2008 6:55:59 AM)

1000 miles trip to upstate ny and back. Averaged 20mpg. Can''t wait to get my ecu, headers, exhaust, etc. 3.73 Gears 4x4.

Is that highway or city mileage? Probably just need a tune up [:D]
And no, unless it''''''''s one of the 07+ Hemi''''''''s with the Dodge version of Active Fuel Management (in the trucks it''''''''s 06/07+) you''''''''d be getting worse...

Currently I''''''''m getting an average of 16.9 MPG, but that''''''''s slowly going down as I''''''''ve been doing more and more city driving [:D]
Since I last reset the meter, I''''''''ve done about 1000kms worth of highway driving and like 300 worth of city driving... Averages about 21 MPG @ 69 MPH going up to 74 MPH drops that down to about 18 MPG or so...

My record high of 24 MPG @ 74 MPH was done in Feb... Which means the winter gas mix, lol.

Kage0113 -> RE: Official MPG Poll (9/11/2008 12:34:13 PM)

I''''m getting 18 city and 20 highway. Had to put in a cold air intake and full synthetic. But this is much better considering when I got my Blazer I was getting 12-13. I''''m sure my mileage would be better if I wasn''''t at 7200ft.Sorry, should have edited this into my original post but I couldn''t find it lol

Leper -> RE: Official MPG Poll (9/15/2008 4:16:32 AM)

Damn, i''m at a quarter tank left and I''m at 230KM''s "dont  know in miles"  Basically if this is a 72L tank i''m getting like 10-13mpg all city driving, no racing..... I guess i''ll try plugs and air filter.
