Official MPG Poll

swartlkk -> Official MPG Poll (3/28/2008 7:35:18 PM)

Jason (WolfPack) has a great idea.  Instead of all of the threads that are floating around with mileage listed, here is a poll.

Please calculate your mileage by first reseting your mileage when you fill up.  At the next fuel fill up, divide the displayed mileage on the trip odometer by the gallons pumped.

When you vote on the poll, please post and include your vehicle information (possibly including engine size, gear ratio, auto or manual transmission, 2wd or 4wd, etc), your driving habits, type of driving (city, highway, mix, stop-n-go, etc) and the weather experienced.

Even though you won't be able to vote more than once, if you have updated information, post it.

This thread is for mileage information only.  Discussion about the mileage values posted is not permitted.

WolfPack -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/28/2008 7:39:09 PM)

Woo hoo!! Looks good Kyle!

I'm holding down 13 mpg, due to the extra weight of my grille guard, drag from the roof rack, wider A/T tires, and I probably need a tune up!  4.3L V6, running premium (but no tune), 4wd.  Pretty good mix of highway and city driving.

firemansc32 -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/28/2008 7:47:38 PM)

12.7mpg ohh yeah!

4.3L V6, running 89 octane fuel, 3.73 gears, 31" tires, CAI, and I drive short trips ,5 miles on the highway usually, with hills and half the time I'm accerating.

rriddle3 -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/28/2008 7:49:46 PM)

Closest I could pick was the 18-19, but mine actually gets 19-20[:)], 3.42 axle, easy on the throttle with ~70% highway/30% city, see my signature for other drivetrain info.

EuroGoldLS -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/28/2008 7:51:21 PM)

2wd, City, Short Trips, 7 stop signs and 3 times around a parking lot per usual day. I get around 17.4 normally. I can stretch it to 21 going to the beach though.

Nazdreg -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/28/2008 8:18:01 PM)

Actually. I get amazing milage. all stock gears 4.3L. Only diff is the highflow intake and exhaust system with Poweraide TBS. I have about 70-75% highway rural driving and about mebby 25-30% tops city 4wd 4 door. behemoth of the S-10 Blazers. lol My mialage is averages abour 20 mpg

Edit from not posting mialge and correct eng size. opps.

prozach1988 -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/28/2008 8:48:41 PM)

this was a great idea

lennyblazer -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/28/2008 9:53:57 PM)

Generally at school or around town I drive slightly agressive but usually pretty easy. Usually short trips on city streets and county highways usually involving hills in some places. I have a 4x4 that I drive 90% of the time or more in 2wd. 4door with 235/75R15 BFG AT tires, 3.73 rear gears (not sure about the front) and a good sized speaker system with 1000watt subwoofer amplifier (causes more electrical system strain which might have a slight effect on gas mileage if the 50 extra pounds in the back doesn't hurt it).

I have gotten 25mpg on 3 occasions and multiple times with 21-23mpg, with similar road/driving conditions. This occurs when I drive to and from school loaded up lightly (not to the roof and with 5 guys in it like normal). This is also when a majority of the driving is on county highway (55mph speedlimit, doing 55-60mph) There are very little stops and or turn offs on this route. Otherwise if I do 65-70mph I generally get about 19mpg. It varies a lot between 14-23mpg. Oh and I generally get 9-10mpg if I am doing a lot of off roading (4x4hi pretty much all the time and 4x4 lo quite often + spinning tires)

Good idea on this polling thread.

kiwiblazer -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/28/2008 11:05:01 PM)

I get about 18-19ltr per 100km. Doing the math that works out to about 12-13mpg (US). Mostly town driving. Speeds around 50 to 70 kph with no bumper to bumper traffic. Not yet taken her on a long trip but hopefully I'll get better consumption.

03blazer -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/29/2008 7:54:59 AM)

03 Blazer, 2WD, 2 door, 4.3 lt V6 Vortec, stock gears, needs a tune up but i get around 18-20 mpg, 75% highway driving to and from work and about 25% city driving around. highway speeds around 75-80 mph.

TheBrettster -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/29/2008 7:58:08 AM)

Holla Holla at 9 MPG

TripleBlackBlazer -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/29/2008 8:59:47 AM)

My best was either 21.xx or 24.xx mpg's on a straight shot from gas station to gas station on a trip from Manheim, PA to Altoona, PA using the methods described in the OP.

2000, 4.3L, 3.42's, AUTO, 4WD, 2DR, all highway, cruise set at 70 on PA turnpike for approx. 180 miles on a warm Spring day.  Don't know if this is fair because I didn't use a full tank.

My average now is right around 17-18 mpg's with the same truck, 235/75/15's (instead of stock 235/70's which also messes with odometer), with winter mix fuel and a homemade shielded CAI.  Drive is probably a good 50/50 mix as I have to drive from town to town to work in various homes and schools.

Hoping to see that number stay at 18-20 once winter mix is done.

YepIOwnA97Blazer -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/29/2008 9:14:29 AM)

I get anywhere from 15-17

stock everything with 3.42 gears
about 60% highway/40% city
outside temps= 26 to 40 right now

i think you should have waited longer until winter grade gas stops

FirehawkNS -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/30/2008 5:43:46 AM)

I have been checking mine at almost every fill up since I got the Truck and basically sit right at 18.3 almost every time.  Then I changed the fuel filter and it dropped down to 17 about every time.  But could have to do more with the plugs/wires since I don't know how old they are.  Still need to do a leak test to make sure everything is fitting right.

drperry -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/30/2008 2:07:52 PM)

16.6 MPG on my last highway trip without my brushguard...

I'll actually vote in the poll when my new engine is broken in and I don't have to keep going from 60 - 75 MPH...

It'll get better when I can drive at a steady RPM [:)]

Millertime21 -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/30/2008 2:46:34 PM)

I get about 15mpg. 1996 Blazer lt 4x4, 4-door, 4.3L, 3.42. Should have a tune and 4.10 in the next two weeks so I'll update. Mods are in sign.

thegr81 -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/30/2008 2:54:15 PM)

I am averaging 16-17 currently at the moment, city driving, easy on the throttle but have an exhaust leak that is holding me around 16-17 mpg at the moment plus I need to do a tune up! I have a cold air intake for performance mods and that is it. Otherwise stock gears with 18 inch chrome rims and 225/40r18 for tires , 4.3 vortec v6 2dr 2wd!!

blznlowxtreme -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/30/2008 5:07:07 PM)

im glad we finally got a poll on this, hopefully no more topics of the mpg

ukblazer -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/30/2008 8:15:09 PM)

getting around 17-18 mpUSg which is around 21.5 per UKg

currently Gasoline is about £1.05 per litre so around £4.20 per USgal

Current exchange rates make that about $8.38 USD per USgal

also seem to have a higher octaine rating than you guys: 95 for regular, 97 for super (occasionaly 99 super at some stations)

Scooterewski -> RE: Official MPG Poll (3/30/2008 8:55:46 PM)

I average between 17.6 and 19.1 mpg depending on traffic on the interstate. Usually easy on the gas, running regular. 99' 4.3L,4x4 4door, 3.73's...(most tanks run me 18.7-19.1) 70% highway-30% city
