What to do??

tjwiens91@hotmail.co -> What to do?? (3/31/2008 3:42:10 PM)

Ive been researching alot, i would like to get a 2" lift, with some wheeling capabilitys. Everyone says to stay away from the roughcountry lift. Then what lift would be the best one to get? Can you run a suspension lift with 2" shackles?

Unless you go to the TM5 or SL6, you're using shackles to lift the rear in any suspension lift for the blazer.  Shackles adjust the rear leaf springs, so it's still a 'suspension lift' [;)]

The rough country kit just advises that it is 'not intended for heavy offroading' or something along those lines, mostly because of the CV angles as I understand it.

the superlift 2" kit also says this. They mean dont go rock crawling or trail riding or youre gonna blow a cv..... mud wont hurt ya....

I will be doing slight wheeling, nothin major. Mainly getting a lift to run 31's. so the roughcountry lift is ok to get?

nj4x4blaze -> RE: What to do?? (4/2/2008 3:55:35 AM)

Roughcountry makes the 2" lift kits for Superlifts so you'll be fine. A few people that I know have the roughcountry kit and didn't have any issues.

my only issue with the rough country lift is it is to expensive, and you can fix the balljoint angles without the new a arms. and achieve the same ammount of lift for alot cheaper, basically your paying for the control arms, because torsion keys are garbage and shackles are what 60$? and also im not tryin to be mean but youve been asking this same question over and over again on what to do..

how can you fix the ball joint angles without new upper control arms? PLEASE do tell?? also, $450 is not EXPENSIVE by any means for a suspension lift. Especially for IFS. Where do you get your bearing that the torsion keys are garbage? I'm sure there would be several thousand people that strongly disagree with you. Sure you may not need them. but garbage, they are not. The bottom line is the rough country lift WILL be better on your truck than just a torsion crank! I am aware that it is nothing more than a glorified torsion crank, but the new upper control arms make the main difference. There is NO way to fix the ball-joint angles without new upper control arms or modding your current ones. I personally would not use a hack-job stock upper control arm.

ALSO, it is not your place to correct other members for posting too much. Leave that to mods/admins. . . . Obviously we feel that he has not posted the same thing over and over again or his posts would have been deleted. . .

sorry about the same questions over again, i just want to be 100% completely sure what im getting before i spend the money.

WolfPack -> RE: What to do?? (4/3/2008 12:25:35 PM)

Which is a solid plan of action.  Continue to do so!

Amen a_tack!

95BlazerLt4wd -> RE: What to do?? (4/3/2008 5:07:10 PM)

lol, ill make a tutorial once i get time to do it. and it doesnt involve cutting anything...

edit: and the kids trying to safe money, so how is 450 not alot, and in his sig it says 1" tbar crank, he wont have any problems with cv's or bj's at 1". Torsion keys are garbage because they alow you to over crank your tbars causing more wear. if you ask most people they will say to throw out the tbar keys...

navyblue_sk8er -> RE: What to do?? (4/3/2008 5:10:07 PM)

I'm lost. A tutorial of what?

tjwiens91@hotmail.co -> RE: What to do?? (4/3/2008 5:45:46 PM)

well i guess im kind of lost myself. 95blazerlt4wd says to just use shackles an a tbar crank, but other people are saying to get the lift.

95BlazerLt4wd -> RE: What to do?? (4/3/2008 6:28:54 PM)

how to fix the ball joint angle with cutting stock a arms/ getting new ones.

WolfPack -> RE: What to do?? (4/3/2008 6:30:42 PM)

It depends if you want to risk the cost of the front end parts.  If you are ok replacing them as they wear out, just do a tbar crank and shackles.  If you want to prolong the life and postpone the replacement of the same parts, get the kit, and save your balljoints by using the new control arms.

But remember if you've already got 1.5'' shackles and a 1'' tbar, and you buy the kit, you'll only get .5'' more in the rear and 1'' more in the front.  Kinda makes the benefit of the kit cut in half.

navyblue_sk8er -> RE: What to do?? (4/3/2008 6:33:57 PM)

And you are going to make a tutorial of? Cranking T-bars?

Whats over cranking got to do with anyhting about new keys being garbage? My sports bike allows me over accelerate and do a wheelie which can be bad, so? If you over crank to 3" thats your fault. All you have to do is not over crank that far and do the measurements as the instruction tell you. Its possible for you to have T-bar sag that won't allow you to go 2". Thats why they are included.

But yes for, 1/2" less you get almost the same lift for way cheaper. Its all up to you.

Opps sorry, took me to long to write and you already replied about what the tutorial is going to be about, sry.

WolfPack -> RE: What to do?? (4/3/2008 6:36:40 PM)

Also a problem I've heard of with trying 3'' on the tbars via keys is that the wheels then can't be properly aligned.  At least not with the stock camber bolts.

navyblue_sk8er -> RE: What to do?? (4/3/2008 6:38:46 PM)

True, just with the 2" my caster was right at limits. They can't adjust it any further.

tjwiens91@hotmail.co -> RE: What to do?? (4/3/2008 6:46:59 PM)

Sorry about the confusion but i do not have any shackles on at the moment, my blazers at stock hight. i am hopefully going to be ordering 2" shackles from 3leaffab tonight. Install those at school crank the t-bars a inch an allign it right there. Im excited. im tired of seeing so many blazers!! they all look alike!!!

navyblue_sk8er -> RE: What to do?? (4/3/2008 6:56:13 PM)

So you're going to allign it at school?
