Remember if you look long and hard enough you'll find that water and oxygen can be fatal.  Also why don't people complain about cows because of the methane.  Hmmm......

Also when people start blaming ethanol as the sole reason for food price increase, I want to throw a brick threw my computer screen.  The price of food doesn't have that much to do with the price of the ?comodity?(spelling).  Tranportation and energy costs conutinue to go up so either the food company eats this increase or passes it on to the consumer.  When was the last time a barrel of oly hit a $100.  A dollar increase in gasoline has three times bigger impact on prices a dollar increace than corn. The same goes for the rising costs of paying worker at the food companines which is the biggest contributer.  As for animal feed rising prices, that comec out of the producers pocket and stops at the farm gate.  They don't get paid more because their expences went up.  Only when farmers cut back the size of their herds, or food companies cut back on production does the impact ripple through the economy.  For example when corn hits $5 a bushel the value of that corn in a gallon of milks is about 16 cents.  Or when corn prices rose 50% last year the price impact on a two liter bottle of pop contain high fructose corn syrup was about 2 cents  The weak dollar does help any ether.  Cheaper american food can now be purchased in large volumes by other countries.  So we export more.  The inverse is the same for the imported food that we eat.  It costs America more for the same amount.  Blaming ethanol alone is wrong.  There are to many variables to blame only one thing.

Back to the truckers they have pretty much screwed themselves out of a job.  I bet almost every one has already lost there route to some other guy willing to drive it.  It does suck when you are nickled and dimed out of a job because the company that your hauling for will not raise their rates to cover the fuel costs.  My dad is about to quit a route for the same reason.  Which means that we'll have a $40,000 six month old trailer that we don't need anymore.   We bought it for the sole purpose of hauling this route.

So when you keep making less and less for the same work there evenutally becomes a breaking point.  Many of these guy have no other income or training other than what their truck provides them.  So stirke and hope it works in your favor or stand to lose everything you have.  Which would you do?  And for those that say way not just cut there costs.  That would be the same as you going out and buying a brand new car to get a megre improvment in mpg.  I bet $30000(used semi truck at auction)($100,000+ for a new truck which will lose about half its value in one year) isn't something you could part with over night for a 1-2 mpg improvment.  Ther are reasons I don't usually bad mouth people on strike because there may be a good reason for it.

Well here is the question of the day. in th 1980's how much was minimal wage? now compair that to inflation at that time and compare that to the prices of everyday items. like food, lumber, gas etc... now look at minimal wage today and compare it to the same thing. I knew someone who made $3.50 an hour at micky D's but gas was around $1.00 a gallon(at least were we are) now look at minimal wage. it's $6.25 an hour. but wait gas is $3.50 a gallon. so were did this ratio get thrown off balance? And were did all that money go? Now here is another another theorie (i don't know if this is true or not) but let's stop looking at our inflation and look at everyone elses inflation. Maybe we should be concerned about theirs. let's look at those ratios, and see what they have been doing over the years. Cause i don't know about you but i haven't heard about them on the news.       Plus all this money is poring into the government. What are they realy doing with all that taxe $ (other then for war cause that deserves an exception)

It's called the 'national debt'  or the 'economy'
