quote:
ORIGINAL: WolfPack General Tire is produced and owned by Continental Tires. BF Goodrich founded in 1896. Continental founded in 1871. Via the transitive property of mathematics: Continental > BF Goodrich, General Tire = Continental, General Tire > BF Goodrich I'm not fooled by BFGs long running sponsorship of Baja racers...If I had enough money I could get Wolfpack Tires to win the Baja . Don't fall for the BFG marketing trickery right, continental has been around longer. I don't think they made general right off the bat. . . Most companies wait a bit to expand! Noone said your tires are crap, they are good tires! I ALMOST BOUGHT THEM! no need to try and correct me, found this at www.generaltire.com "General Tire has been around for nearly a century and it is still well recognized and known brand. It was found in 1915 and today it is now part of Continental Tire North America, German based company. Over these years of expertise, General Tire has been able to develop the quality, performance and great value that you can always count on. Due to the unique tire features and various sizes, General Tire appeals to broad range of customers." General tire was not originally a part of continental. They were independent and Continental bought them out..... Get your facts straight before trying to prove anyone wrong. Also.... "1870: Dr. Benjamin Franklin Goodrich establishes the first rubber company west of the Allegheny Mountains, leading to Akron, Ohio, becoming the Rubber Capital of the World. BFGoodrich establishes one of the first research labs in the United States. " What did you do? wikipedia your information? Wikipedia is an unreliable source. Had a 400 level sociology professor and a history professor that would fail us if we used wikipedia as a source... Now, with that said and done, Get the Grabbers! they are good tires, especially if you are on a Budget! I would say that they do just as good as BFG's in most situations... just remeber, although they are good tires, they aren't mud tires. They don't self clean as well as an MT. ..

Haha....found out... Ever seen the book 'how to lie with statistics?' I knew General was bought out...and you really can't argue with the Baja history...So I had to try something...gotta stand up for my tires! And my facts were very straight, just a tad misleading

lol... im all for trying to "church" things up.... however, i think there are some comparisons that cannot be "churched" up...lol The grabbers are good tires. . . . . no arguments there.. also, BF Goodrich is no longer an independent company. The exited the tire business in 1988. Sold the name and designs to Michelin! so BFG Tires are actually corporately owned by Michelin. "In 1988, Michelin acquired the tire and rubber manufacturing divisions of the American BF Goodrich Company founded in 1870. Two years later, they bought out Uniroyal Inc., founded in 1892 as the United States Rubber Company, Uniroyal Australia had already been purchased by Bridgestone in 1980. Michelin is currently the world's second largest tire manufacturer after Bridgestone, although it was in first position in 2005. "

Hello all, Signed up only to give a warning on these tires. I bought these just over a year ago from tirerack size 255/70/r16 for my 4x4 and thought as you all seem to. Everyone who looked at them wanted to know more, where to get them how much, are they as good as they look. I answered enthusiastically to all questions....at the time. As of 5/5/2008 they are off the truck. First 25,000 miles of wear seemed great, great traction good look, not too loud for a 4x4. But watch out. Past that 25-30 thousand mile mark these tires went south. terrible wear, noise, constant balancing, loss of traction on wet roads. As for the warranty... you better have reciepts to prove you rotated them(so much for us backyard guys that do it ourselves), and if you have that you better be able to pull reciepts to prove they were balanced too and I assume proof of proper allingnment but I never got that far. I rotated every 3- 4 thousand miles and wound up with a wopping 42,000 miles on these before they were just too unsafe to drive. I will never buy these again, and that is a giant flip flop from the first half year that I owned them. I thought I had found the tire I would buy for the rest of my life, but what I really found was another disappointment wrapped up in a pretty package. Oh, by the way if you do have these watch your pressure, they love to wear the centers out real fast with any decent pressure setting (at the end of the line to save tread I had to run these 44psi tires at 33-34psi or they would not have lasted this long, I usually set them around 36-38 or I would bounce out of the lane or slide around curves at the full 44psi). Just my 2 cents but watch... the burnt hand usually knows best. Jay

That sucks you had an unfortunate experience, but I'm going to trust tirerack.com's much larger database of reviews. 301 revews and ~3 million miles reported, and still 85% would buy again. Your experience just convinces me to buy the lifetime rotation and balancing when I get the tires mounted.
