I found some stainless mesh in the shop today that used to be part of a irrigation strainer.... Cleaned it up with alcohol then I tried my trick of sticking it close together under water and putting 9 volts to it, and it produce quite a bunch of bubbles. I'm gonna try it with a 12v battery and then a 24v and see what goes on with it. The stainless mesh is about the same thing as what comes with the kit you can order on ebay.

I see another problem in the future.... O2 sensors. They will detect the increased presence of oxygen in the exhaust and think its running lean. Therefore probably making it get worse mileage.

Good luck to you while doing this I am a believer in hydrogen being the future keep us informed of what you find out and if you do real world testing with a vehicle!!

Also remember the steel is going to wear away.  Over time the bubbles will decrease as more steel wears away.

I'm gonna try some different methods you can buy into on the internet and report back on whether they are BS.

actually the bubbles you are seeing are hydrogen and oxygen combined. to get pure oxygen and nitrogen seperate, requires an h-shaped tube because hybrogen forms on one and oxygen on the other electrode. its called electrolisis? iirc and its really inefficient too. I'm trying to remember this all from last year so might not be 100% accurate

well say if you got the hydrogen all set up and you were looking for a way to put it into the engine wouldnt it be easier to have a carb, but then again back in those days they didnt have the advanced computers so idk just thinking out loud

quick note:  The hydrogen was a minimal factor in the hindenburg.  The aluminum skin they used on the blimp oxidized, and when the fire started, the temperature set off a thermite reaction (youtube thermite if you want a demonstration of the burning/explosive ability).

Hydrogen is very explosive though

my dad is a firefighter and i am looking to get into it also. there was a picture of a guy that had a hydrogen car. his tank was reported to be 1/8 full and he was going to refuel when he was T-boned.......... they had to pick him up piece by piece. now if you ask me i wouldn't want that in my car. And another thing in my lab we put Zink in hydrochloric acid in a flask. when we put a burning flint in it the gas ignited so fast that it shatered the flask...... that flask was unstoppered.........your truck engine is......but thats just one man's 2 cents

Both cases are uncontrolled releases of hydrogen.  That's a worst case.  An uncontrolled release of gasoline in a fire would do the same thing..

The outcome is:
No work,
No money,
No Hydrogen!

I am following this one guy's build on the CF and it looks pretty convincing the way he is doing it.

I found a little setup online that is a self contained unit with zinc grating to activate the electrolysis.  Comes with a replacement zinc plate, and puts out 1.7 liters/min of pure hydrogen.  Has a vent cap and everything to discharge O2...annnddd it simply wires up to the battery, and pipes to the intake behind the MAF.

Lost think link though...i'll see if I can find it.

Haha yea I guess...I found it during accounting class...so I was just clicking around
But they did promise the whole 'double your mileage' thing...which makes me that much more skeptical.

I think they should drop all the stupid crap in high school chemistry classes and start experimenting with hydrogen and attempting to find an alternative source for fuel, then our tax dollars will be good at work :D and kids will actually learn something usefull in school
