Okay guys, I have an emergency here.  I have never towed anything in my life but had planned to buy a hitch and rent a camper a few times this summer.  Well I know have a friend stranded in Charleston IL on their way to Kentucky when the timing belt on the car they were driving to tow a fishing boat blew.  So I need to get a hitch and fast.  I want the toughest on the market for the S10 Blazer.  I had been looking at Draw Tite pn#75079 which is rated as a Class IV hitch.  I don't care about if it's hidden or not, as long as it can tow close to 5,000lbs.  Any different suggestions?  I need to get this bought and installed by tonite hopefully.

A good Class III will be fine. Your blazer is not rated to tow anything a class III wont handle. I personally wouldn't be towing 5000lbs very far with an s-10 blazer after seeing how they handle a 3,300lb boat (my pro-craft). Also, your blazer having a 5-speed reduces your tow capacity to somewhere in the 3200-3500lb range. If you hook 5,000lbs to it, have fun replacing the clutch and other tranny parts. For the money, Hidden Hitch makes a good hitch as does reese. I have the hidden hitch and have used the safety chain holes to tow strap other vehicles out of ditches. Also have pulled almost 5000lbs with no trouble. However, I will never do it again, the truck is simply not made to do this.

To put it bluntly, DO NOT PULL 5000lbs WITH A BLAZER! ESPECIALLY A MANUAL!!!!!!!! just a friendly warning, don't want you breaking anything...
