battery draw (need help asap)

rwrows -> battery draw (need help asap) (4/5/2008 1:42:59 PM)

what's up guys?  i am the proud new owner of a 99 blazer and i'm trying to sort out a little problem with it.  the battery (brand new) goes dead after about 2 days of sitting.  i hooked a tester up to it and found that when i pull the INT BAT fuse about 99% of the battery draw goes away.  anyone ever experience this?  should i put it back in and pull the other fuses to narrow it down or did i already find the problem.  anyone know how to fix it?  any help is greatly appreciated.  thanks.

What is the actual draw on that circuit.  With the battery connected, remove the fuse and put the DMM (set to amps or milliamps) across where the fuse was.  This will give you the direct circuit draw.

The INT BATT (50A) fuse services the HDLP SW, AUX PWR, RDO BATT, CIGAR LTR, CTSY LP, and PWR LKS Fuses (and the AMPF Fuse if equiped with Premium Audio).  While monitoring the INT BATT circuit amp draw, try pulling the fuses noted above or you could just test the amp draw of each of these circuits with the INT BATT fuse installed.

awesome!  i will try it right now and post back my findings.  thanks a million.

my under hood light stayed on and I pulled the bulb out...That was on my old blaze

ok i'm looking at the fuse diagram and don't see any of those labels that you listed?  any input on that?

rwrows -> RE: battery draw (need help asap) (4/5/2008 3:04:54 PM)

ok i think i pulled every fuse and the only one that seems to have a strong draw is the INT BAT.  none of the other ones seem to have anything worth mentioning.  ???

They might be in the interior fuse panel...

Check and make sure you don't have anything plugged into the cig. lighter...

Other than that, check the fuses like Kyle said...

Did you figure how much of a draw there is on the battery?

yes i jumps up and down but the number that seems to pop up the most is .75 amps

rwrows -> RE: battery draw (need help asap) (4/5/2008 3:15:14 PM)

ok, dumb question here,  where is the interior fuse panel?  sorry guys i'm used to working on a 70 chevelle.

Aftermarket stereo?

That kind of draw shouldn't kill the battery in two days...

Open the drivers door, and there should be a panel/door to open up, on the side of the dash.

awesome just found it.  factory stereo.  ok.  the RDO BATT is pulling the most draw.  ???

rwrows -> RE: battery draw (need help asap) (4/5/2008 3:25:01 PM)

i could be wrong about the .75 amps, i have the tester set to 10A and i'm getting a reading of .64 or so on the RDO BATT.  so maybe that is 6.4 amps???  sorry for my ignorance.

drperry -> RE: battery draw (need help asap) (4/5/2008 3:27:08 PM)

Setting it on 10 amps, .64 should be .64...

Check for the fuse for the under hood light, if you have one...

rwrows -> RE: battery draw (need help asap) (4/5/2008 3:30:13 PM)

there's no light bulb installed under the hood.  also, the draw seems to jump up and down,  when i first make contact with the leads the ams go up to 1.5 and then go down to .6 or so.  ???

drperry -> RE: battery draw (need help asap) (4/5/2008 3:32:27 PM)

Did you try pulling some of the interior fuses to see if you could get it to stop?

rwrows -> RE: battery draw (need help asap) (4/5/2008 3:35:08 PM)

yes i've narrowed it down the RDO BATT fuse.  that's definately the circuit that's drawing.  any clue on my next move???

drperry -> RE: battery draw (need help asap) (4/5/2008 3:38:54 PM)

Pull the fuse, and see if it stops the problem... If not, your draw is somewhere else.

If it does fix the problem... Get your alternator and battery tested, lol.

rwrows -> RE: battery draw (need help asap) (4/5/2008 3:46:26 PM)

the fuse is currently out.  and battery draw is normal <.1 amps.  what does this mean?

rwrows -> RE: battery draw (need help asap) (4/5/2008 3:50:24 PM)

what is the atc fuse???  that's not istalled under the hood.  i installed it and i hear a click inside the cab somewhere.  ???

WolfPack -> RE: battery draw (need help asap) (4/5/2008 7:50:07 PM)

Could he have a bad door switch?  Causing the radio to stay on...what about your interior lights? Do they work fine?
