Thats with most blazers including mine from what I've heard and that noise also happens with my brothers s-10 so its just the vavles tapping. I've talked to a couple dealers and they told me that can't be fixed that that noise is "Normal". Thats just another thing like with if u turn the wheel hard doing a sharp turn how it pops. Just a thing with the car.

That is definitely NOT a normal sound. If you dealership told you that, RUN AWAY! Never go back there. They told you that because they don't want to fix it. It's a normal line. "Oh, thats normal for this type of vehicle." BS!

The noise could be a collapsed lifter causing excessive rocker lash, or it could be a bent push rod or two, but that usually means bad things have happened and shouldn't be the only problem.

I don't know if there are any home remedies for a collapsed lifter. The downside of running it in its current condition would be the cylinders affected wouldn't get full valve actuation and it could cause excessive wear in the valvetrain.

Would help to know some of the specifics of your truck. year for one, engine for another, and mileage.

In the fullsize trucks the tick noise is a common problem, although in those trucks its from piston slap, which is a problem. However teh dealer answer is its OK. There are TSB out on it.

Your noise could be from carbon build up. Run a can of seafoam through the oil system (directions are on the can) and see if that helps.
Your noise could also be from a worn valve guide, stuck valve, or just too thin of oil.

You could try 10w-30 oil and see if the problem goes away. Would really help to know more about your engine, year, and how many miles are on it.

sorry, for not stating info on the truck , its a 1996 LT 4.3 automatic 4 door 4x4 with 112k on it... i dont see how it can be a normal noise for any car, the truck runs fine, good pickup, doesnt stall, oil pressure is a lil under half way sitting but when drivin its perfect in the middle, unless u floor it then it goes higher...

Definitely true!!!
A popping sound from your truck when doing a full turn is something to worry about from the front end...have the truck inspected on this...generally it is done for free in one of those alignment shops...mine is doing it and just found out that the lower ball joints are screwed...will change them no questions asked...

Could be your alternator as well, a lot of them tick when they start to wear. It's hard to identify noises in an engine bay because everything richotes, but it's most likely a valvetrain issue. A lot of GM vehicles have a slight valve tick to them, which is probably what the dealership was reffering to. Is it "normal" Yes. Is it good? HECK NO!

I couldn't tell you online, I'd have to hear it, but most times it's VERY loud when inspecting the engine bay.

Also, do you get ANY sort of interference on your system? noise, ticking?
