Hi all I am ordering a rebuilt short block 4.3 letter W from www.cmengines.com for 540,  i will have the heads rebuilt, and i was going to install the original cam, but is there a better cam I can use for better Gas MPG, if so who would make one? will I need to make any computer mods? would headers help also?  the Muffler looks to be 75lbs LoL  its just friggin huge, so i will be yanking it off for a smaller lighter one..

thanks for any info

I would contact Comp Cams or another cam manufacturer of your choice for recommendations for your vehicle.  They will know the application and can best recommend a cam for your needs.

I installed a Comp Cams 260 AHR camshaft kit in mine.  I did the full kit.  Better MPG and power.  Worked out well with stock injection and PCM.  I have the non-balance shaft 4.3 (262 C.I.D.) engine.  Contact Sam Culp at comp cams, he''s a BIG help.

I purchased the K-kit from comp cams.  I think it was around $700 for the kit.  I also did it as a part of an engine, transmission, T-case, front and rear diff overhaul.  I am seeing about 21 hwy MPG and it has a LOT more power.  I did nothing to the exhaust, it''s all stock.  I was only getting around 17 hwy MPG before the work.  I did all the work myself, I am an ASE certified tech.  The labor was only blood, sweat, and tears!
