Have you verified the fuel pressure is appropriate for the application?  I am assuming that you have the CPI motor (large aluminum upper intake plenum having a black plastic cover on top with 'Vortec' in orange lettering).  If that is the case then you need atleast 52psi of fuel pressure to start the engine.  You will also want to check the bleed down of that pressure once you turn the key off.  If it bleeds down quickly, you have a leak in the fuel system.  Quite common for the CPI motors to have the FPR (fuel pressure regulator) fail.

Is the check engine light on?

What is wrong with asking here?  Someone else might have the same questions...  Don't forget to use the search feature now that you have a direction to go with your diagnosis.

Well, if the FPR is shot, it could be extremely flooded.  That is why you should test the fuel pressure.  The fuel pressure test port is located on the rear driver corner of the upper intake plenum.  You will need a fuel pressure gauge (~$20 from your favorite autoparts store) to test the pressure.

FPR is under the upper intake plenum (again if you have the CPI engine - you still haven't confirmed that).

THIS THREAD should give you some good ideas on what is required.

I'm not saying that is the absolute cause of the problem, but it is a posibility.  You have to do the fuel pressure test to tell for sure.
