hey everyone, Im getting my flowmaster 40 series muffler put on in 4 days. I was just wondering, If i just put the muffler on and leave all the piping stock would this make any difference? will it be louder? or should i replace my tail pipe. I would greatly appreciate any help/suggestions. thanks.

It should be more resonant than before, causing more sound. It might be more noticable if the exhaust was replaced with a high flow cat and new larger piping. But I would say a new muffler should be good.

I did the exact thing, except I put on a new tailpipe as well, because I ripped it off getting stuck on a steep hill :(. It isn't very loud, but it has a nice low rpm rumble to it. I wish it was louder, but I think I would have to remove the cat. conv. to be satisfied. On a side note, I saved some dough by buying a generic brand. However, this brand has basically the same patent flowmaster does on the 40 series. When you get it installed, I would like to hear what you think about it.
