Let me know if it makes a big difference!

I'd like to be able to have a spare tire I can actually use!

I think 2 MPG might be worth it for me to have a useable spare tire

i've been around. I put a cut off on the off roading thing, after the time with you when it got flooded on the inside it happened again that winter. (make sure you arn't driving on ice) I tore out the interior and cleaned it and everything but I can still smell a bit of swamp in there no matter what. I haven't had much time any how, between school, managing the fishing/hunting seasons and installing the vast amount of electonic equipment into the blazer I've been pretty busy. Been off the roads lately?

It was just under $65 for a full tank for me.  I should take the tire off of the back to see if it helps but I like the way it looks.  I did take of the grill gaurd(35-40lbs) after someone backed into it. That didn't seem to help out any though.   My milage has seem to have gone up since it finally warm out again.

Not so much the gasoline itself I would think, but the air the gas has to mix with.

I use to hear guys talk about taking off the roof racks on the Trailblazer Forum. I can't believe taking them off makes that much difference. What is a 1/2 MPG. Plus I think they look ugly without the rack. The 4x4, 4 door anyway. If you slow down 5 MPH you can gain that kind of mileage.

You'd get more of a gain from taking out the rear seats than taking off the roof rack.

i dont see how taking ur seats out would get more mpg's over taking off ur roof rack. i would say the rack is heavier and u would lose more weight that way. plus u get better areo

The factory rack is pretty light....ever had the seats out?  The seats (4-door 3 seater) support 200+lbs each.  The rack supports what...250-300 total?  Also the stock rack is pretty aerodynamic...I wouldn't imagine drag area nor drag coeffecient would be significantly effected by the stock rack removal.

Yeah, the factory rack isn't going to affect the mileage a whole bunch...

I need a bi-level rack if I get one, lol. a cage for lights + spare tire and cross bars over the tire to attatch stuff...
