go to autozone and have them run a free diagnostic check on your car...this is something the dealer charges 30-50 bucks for. the guy at autozone can tell you exactly what is setting the light off...also, what mods have you done, i may be able to tell you about some of them that can cause inconsistencies...let me know

thanks benzodogg, no mods. the light went off today. must be a bug? the thing just hit 56k, do they light up for "maintenance" at exactly 60k or just somewhere near that? thanks again & have a good week/end.

When I hit the 60K mark, I didn't have a 'check engine' light come on. Could have been a glitch.

Okay, there are several things to check out. If it comes back on, roll over to Autozone and get the diagnostic done, just to see what is making it come on. Based on the cause of the light, it could be a bad sensor, relay, or really anything. Generally, I have found some Blazer temperature gauges to be slightly off their mark. I have a 180 degree thermostat, but my sensor reads 179.8 when its cold out and that sets the light on. When it's warm out, the light goes off. Little glitches and stuff. As far as the "timed" service light, Chevrolet is not made by Honda. I think they like to believe their drivers are a little smarter than having to be reminded every 3000 miles by a check engine light. Let me know what the error code is when it comes on again.

it could be anything. even a loose gas cap could send it off. but it could also be something more important. get it checked out and go from there.
