Just wondering what kind of mileage everyone is getting with their blazer? I'm trying to figure out if mine is average or not. I'm getting about 15 around town. I haven't really taken any trips yet that would let me figure out the highway miles. Is 15 about average?

I'm getting 15.5-16mpg depending on the weather with my 12 mile (one-way) commute that is about 80% 55mph and includes 1 stop sign and 5 stop lights. My personal best was after my tune up with O2 sensors starting to get lazy and that was 18mpg. I hope to see atleast 18mpg this summer if/when I drive it.

Unless you have tuning to take advantage of the higher octane, high octane will do nothing. You are most likely seeing an increase because with regular, you were having detonation causing the pcm to retard the timing. The higher octane will fight detonation. I bet if you were to give your engine a good seafoam treatment that you would get the same mileage with regular. Most detonation is caused by carbon buildup in the combustion chamber.

I'm getting 16.5 and my driving is mainly around town. Some pretty good stretches of 45 to 50 MPH driving, but more than my fair share of stoplights.

Today I get to go 30 miles of highway driving, hoping to pretty good on mileage.

I'm only getting ~12 MPG... vague question but... why am I getting such bad gas mileage?

Could have something to do with all of these 1/4 mile tests you are doing? Just a guess though...

Flooring it every couple days might be a contributor like Kyle said.

You read my mind swartlkk...this definitely has to do with all those 1/4mi test runs...no way you'll get better mpg!
If I drive like a granny in a complete tank I can get 17-18mpg...but since my foot is heavy, I never get more than 14mpg...

i got 12.5 on my last tank i usually see about 12-14 city driving but i have an extremely heavy foot and have seen 19 on a road trip doing a mix of 60-80mph so i bet i could get 20 if i wanted to on highwa driving as for my city driving well im not about to change my heavy foot habit until i need to i guess hahaha

Good explaination. My 1993 blazer is more efficient and more economical to drive while filling up with 91 octane (highest we have here) as opposed to 87 octane. My cost per mile both in town and out of town is lower with higher octane.

I'll add that in this cold weather we are having, my last tank of 87 octane produced 12.5 MPG in the 1993. Previously with higher octane (probably 89) I was around 14.5-15, with fewer and shorter cold morning warm up times.

My wife is in charge of the 1995 and seldom checks it, and usually resets the trip prior to me asking her to check it:)

The Bravada is still awaiting the engine transplant, which is waiting on some warmer weather.

yeah a hevy foot will kill the gas milage, i do it all the time and get 11-12 mpg...fun as all get out. your transmission will also affect the gas milage you get. a manual will increase the mpg by 2 or 3 miles...i have the auto, so that explains my problems...
