This might not be the right place for this but, i got my blazer in early february, and i would like to get a 2 in suspension lift an bigger tires. NOw my parents are cool with this but my dad cant see a blazer as an offroad vehicle, i know they can go offroad just nothin to extreme. HOw can i convince him or show him that there very good offroad? Hes more into the old fashion stuff an keepin everything stock. Any help would be very appreciated.

Ha ha Ha....my dad has blamed every problem with my blazer on me taking it off roading!!! (not true) I just stopped telling my off roading adventures to him....any time you have a generation gap...there's some confusion...I'm sure when he was your age...he was trying to tune up a hot rod..or messing around with his vehicles...why don't ya take him on some "easy" trails...and show him it handles well...unfortunately...some times you don't get to do what you do until you are older...(best mom voice) good luck!!!

I would have to disagree here, my dad actually surprised me a while ago by putting different tires and wheels on our 01' explorer that's usually on 20's and proxies, and met me out where i usually go wheelin', thinkin he could show me up.... hell no, that damn explorer got stuck after 10 feet into a rut, ha. good times.

I even mention lift kit to my dad and all he does is go on about how I be constantly be replacing u-joints.  That might be true if I did an extreme lift and did nothing but stretch the drive-shafts.

Yeah he was in to the lifted truck when hes was in his 20s, he had a huge truck!!! BUt he could afford it cus gas prices were like 25 cents. The only problem is that we have no trails by us nothing, I got a friend who says i could go into there field. He gets me wanting bigger tires an different rims just not the lifting. He thinks i should just save up for when im older an buy a pickup. Like a 94 silverado lol (his old truck) that thing was a beast lol

heck I'm almost 30...my dad still gives me "suggestions" on what I want to do...you should see how he rolls his eyes when I tell him about the 1976 K5 I'm gonna get and put moster tires on it....of course he did the same thing when I tell him about the 1967 VW bus I want to get and decorate it all tacky and stuff...he also wouldn't let me paint my cavalier when I was 17...I finaly decided that until I have a garage and the tools and money to fix things...blah blah....sometimes dad's suggestions aren't all that bad....

Anything that I have owned that could be lifted has been, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Most of my life I've wanted sports cars or 4x4's but were unaffordable. In South Africa, sports cars & off road vehicles were the exception rather than the rule back in the 60's & 70's & then with family commitments, work & most week-ends spent surfing or paddle ski-ing I never got round to all this stuff.
Until I arrived in New Zealand - To my kids surprise & at the ripe old age of 55! I bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee v8 & took this off-road in the mountains, on the beach & in huge sand dunes. From then I was hooked. Sadly when I closed my business the Jeep had to go & I downgraded to a Toyota Celica (sports car at last!) but this proved too inconvienient & when the local car yards started importing Blazers from Japan I jumped at the chance & bought one. After a few teething problems & waiting to have the tranny checked out & sorted before going off road & with winter arriving the boat is being mothballed & fishing can change to off-roading, I'm now ready & waiting for the weather to play ball. I need to show off to the others with their Explorers, Isuzu's, Mitsubishi's, Nissans & Hi-lux's. They all smirk at my Chevy! No good they say. I hope to show them otherwise.
