Hey all

Glad to see everythings going well here, I just got home a few days ago from working up north and have decided to do something constructive with my time off.

I was hoping someone can design a ported box for my 2 12" type R's that I will try and build myself, as long as i can get ahold of a jigsaw fairly cheap....

I want to have it subs firing up,  slot ported in the back tuned in the low 30's

any help would be spectacular

find a box size ratio to car size/sub output calculator online. just google it. they work great. that is what I did with my ford escort, and when i got the rite size of box, it was a harder hitting bass that could sound lower and make your vibrations much thicker and stronger.

just build one to JLs specs. I would recommend getting a circular saw and a guide fence before a jigsaw. Circular saw will cut much straighter.

i would say build one to Alpines specs before JL's just because they are Alpine subs and not JL's, i doubt JL went and got some Type-r's to make specs for boxes on them.
just my thoughts though

Play around with this. People say it works well, not 100% accurate as it doesn't account for sub discplacement.  If it were me I would shoot for probably about 5 cubes net @ 32 Hz, maybe something like 12-16 sq inches of port per cubic foot.  I don't design boxes, and have onyl used aeros for my builds.

Ya I've seen some of those cut sheets before, but I dunno the name for it.  Best bet is just to draw out your 97x49 sheet and layout the cuts the best you can.  Go to HD tell the guy you got $20 if the cuts are all good.
