My 73 k5 is having a tranny problem. It will not go into drive, but will go into reverse. It has the required transmission fluid, but when you put it into reverse you hear it engage, then when you go to put it into nuetrul it goes into it. Then when you put it, in drive does not engage, and can go between nuetrul and drive without having to lift the column shifter. L1 and L2 do not engage either.

I will most likely be taking it into a mechanic, but would like suggestions on how to fix it, if possible for me to do, and the possible problem. ohh almost forgot to mention its 4 wheel drive.
