Daughters 01' Blazer is not starting in the morning. We have replaced the fuel pump which cost me 1200.00, new battery and head gasket. ll of this was done last year. Now she is having problems with it in the a.m. Whats next? Fuel injectors??

Does it try to cranks and are dash lights odd for starting, and any other issues. It could be the famous ignition switch. When mine went my dealer thought it was the fuel pump and wanted 600 to fix it, I convinced them that it didn't seem like a fuel issue it seemed electrical. If the switch isnt working it will make it seem like the pump is dead in a pressure test. Try "tapping" the cover on the bottom side of the steering column. If it starts after that I would put more money on it being an ignition switch. If you search ignition switch there are a bunch of post about it and I think a how to for changing it.

Have you verified fuel pressure at the fuel rail on top of the engine?

Does the security light flash when you have the no start condition (indicative of a failing ignition switch)?

When you experience the no start condition, will repeated attempts at turning the key to the start position from the off position result in a start (also indicative of a failing ignition switch)?

And holy crap!! $1200 for a fuel pump change??

I have posted a book how-to on the replacement of the ignition switch. It all depends on your comfort level working on vehicles. You will have to be playing around with airbag wires so that increases the difficulty level a bit (as well as decreases most people's comfort level), but we can walk you through it.

You mentioned its a problem starting in the morning.Does it start good the rest of the day?

I know this is a few months old, but my Blazer is doing the same thing. It takes at least 3 tries to get it started in the morning, now up to about 5. After the first start though, it does fine the rest of the day. New fuel pump and ignition switch for a few months now. I checked connections at the fuel pump and all look ok. Fuel filter is about a year old. Battery charging ok, but I think it is going too. I am thinking fuel pressure regulator, but I haven''t put a gage on the fuel rail coming into it to know for sure. Other thought might be something in the ignition. Any other suggestions or tips to diagnose??
