I agree that it is not all President Bush's fault. It is the world we live in, things have changed in the almost 8 years he has been president. Also I like how the person who drives an economy car now, instead of a Blazer, is complaining about the gas prices. I have gone about 150miles on 3/4 of a tank which means i am averaging about 12 mpgs right now. That will change when i start driving longer distances and not in the hills all the time, but I am not complaining, mearly stating an observation of my own. Oh and dang $4 for bread thats expensive, even for me being in the middle of nowhere bread is only like $1.30 for a loaf of white bread.

Hmmm Bush-bashing, are we? I have a funny youtube for you all. I'm not taking a political stance here....just sharing something funny I saw. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4DykmZz_YA Also SDime I agree with you...I drive a toyota pickup every day and I'm still feeling it at the pump...probably doesn't help I commute close to 70 miles a day though.

I was super excited at the pump today...filled up the blazer for the first tank since doing a seafoam upper intake clean, a double dose of fuel system cleaner, and a new belt (don't know if that made a difference though ), and I filled up at my usual 200 mi mark, and IT ONLY TOOK 13 GALLONS. That's just under 15 mpg!!!!!!! but seriously, vote non-hippie.

I think the biggest reason oil is now $120 dollars a barrel and gas is near $4 is that the dollar's value has dropped 39 to 50%, depending on whose figures you believe. It takes a lot more of those 61 or 50 cent dollars to buy a barrel of oil. The oil producing nations know the value of our money and are not dumb enough to take 61 cents when they got a dollar before. Another reason is there are more people bidding on the oil, China and India primarily. If you had $1,000,000 in the bank when Bush took office, it will now buy only 610,000 or 500,000 worth of goods. Bush lowered taxes, but raised spending to record deficit levels (9 trillion and counting). Such action causes the value of money to decrease. Taxation is not the only way politicans can steal your money.

Hhhmmmm LOL..you think he is the ONLY political figure wrapped up in oil...EVERY ONE OF THEM are bought and paid for by pharmaceuticals, insurance or oil. Pick your pain. Bread is expensive because oil is up...gas prices affect EVERYTHING in the end down to a slice of cheese. I am not for governement control over business....but I am on the fence in thinking that oil companies need oversight...LOTS OF IT because they are lying about prices.....I understand when prices go up when a pipeline goes down..however the price NEVER adjust back down when the line comes back online...all twisted piles of lies.

I can relate about how frustrating it is, however alot of the problem is not the integrity of politicians.. and I know how controversial that may sound, but they are just human. I attribute the problem primarily in the structure of our government, esspecially campaign finance, which god bless him, John McCain (and Russ Feingold, among others, mostly dems though) championed for years, but now seems to be backpeddling/doubletalking on somewhat, which is not so good. I think he feels like he doesn't want to get screwed again like in 2000, and look what's happening to the guy - he signed an agreement with Obama to use equal public campaign funds if they were both the nominees, and now Obama is backing out because he's rolling in cash (big "change" there, btw, LOL). You never know, though, McCain could hammer Obama on this later and would be *completely* justified and right to do so. Well... Besides that I believe there are some fundamental flaws in our Constitution, but this gets into some pretty nuanced areas of constitutional law and philosophy. It's tough because there are so many things to fix and people really need time to adjust to changes, even if they are for the better. And of course people are unsure if things will work or not - it reminds me so much of surgery. But you can't do surgery with a sledgehammer (BFH ) if you know what I mean. lol.
